in my opinion the thread and the comments objectified the women in the pictures. if you want to look at that kind of stuff, the internet is full of it. why does it have to be here too?

I understand what you're saying, but conservative views on sex and male/female interaction and attraction stem from periods of christianity which defiled natural attraction between gender and sex.

There's this wonderful thing that was graced upon mankind (and womankind - gotta be politically correct about it 😎) that's called choice. When a person comes into contact be it visual or auditory etc with something that he finds offensive or personally vulgar, it is entirely possible to remove himself from the situation. For example, on an internet forum, he may close the page he finds offensive and not visit it again. This removes the problem, insures he doesn't encounter that same problem again, and still allows those who enjoy the said content to continue enjoying it.

Choice for the win.

I was just trying to lighten the mood. I guess it was not done very well. In fact, I think I succeeded in doing the opposite.

would you be equally as offended if I posted a thread of male models in camera shirts? would you still post that it "objectifies" the men in the pictures? If not, THAT is the true face of sexism.
 
This is retarded. I saw the thread. There were nice pics and people were commenting more the cameras on the shirts than the girls. If some ass said something wrong, just delete its comment, not the whole thread...

with all due respect Chris, that's not really true...I can recall two posts that had females wearing camera shirts that I did not post...I think mfogiel and craigc were the other posters...and I am pretty sure the girls weren't Thai.

there was a photo of a male in the thread, that male was me.....

anyways, like I said, I didn't get a chance to see any of the comments that were posted so I have no idea what happened.......

I saw the thread and was pretty neutral about the whole thing.
Frankly I'm surprised at the developments.

What's done is done. Nothing we can do about it now.
I guess we should move on to the next sexist thread, eh?

That's why I said THE ORIGINAL POST. That means your post that began the thread. I wasn't offended by your photos, I don't think anyone else was either. It was the other guys sitting at the edge of the stage waving dollar bills in the air (figuratively speaking) that was the problem to many of us.
 
That "show me your leica" thread is looking pretty offensive to me right about now.... I don't see any zeiss's or voigtlanders posted in there.

Totally appreciate that Stephen. And thanks for commenting.
I just wish it was the offending member comments that were deleted - rather than the work of one of our photographers - assuming that work itself wasn't offensive.

I'm so far to the left that I think Trotsky was too conservative. This has nothing to do with conservatism or religion. I wasn't offended by the original posters photos, which was nicely done and tasteful. It was the other posts that reminded me of an online equivalent of a bunch of drunken horndogs sitting by the stage in a topless bar. Problem was, this isn't a topless bar, its a photography forum. The issue was respect for our fellow human beings.

No offense Bob. But this seems an unwise path on a forum that thrives on the creativity and vision of its photographers. I'm sure we've all come across stuff here that we'd rather not see. But if everyone got to exclude what they didn't like, there wouldn't be much here to look at.
