What happened to my "girls in camera shirts thread"...it's gone/deleted/vanished

"That's why I said THE ORIGINAL POST. That means your post that began the thread. I wasn't offended by your photos, I don't think anyone else was either. It was the other guys sitting at the edge of the stage waving dollar bills in the air (figuratively speaking) that was the problem to many of us."

Thanks for clarifying that Chris, now I understand.....maybe it's better that I didn't see the comments.....

oh well, I am little bummed that my thread was removed because of sexist comments instead of the comments being removed......it doesn't seem right...

cheers, michael

I think in cases where a thread has a lot of posts that the moderators feel should go, they just nuke the whole thing because of the time it takes to sift through pages of posts to delete just the 'bad' ones. Sucks, but I'd probably do the same thing if I were a volunteer (not paid...If It brought hourly wages I'd take my time, lol) so I could get back to my real life, lol.

..a forum that thrives on the creativity and vision of its photographers.

tbarker13 makes a good point, there are many outstanding photographers in this forum.

Yes, there are some though not enough to make the forum "thrive".

What makes this forum thrive is the testosterone filled lists of expensive gear in some members signatures, sometimes called "willy waving".

No one mentioned Christianity or any other religion. Its possible to be offended by the comments people made in the shirt thread without being a Christian or any other kind of religious believer.

Well, when one read Mr.Gandy's post, it becomes obvious. Religion had nothing to do with it, the owner or mods acting on his behalf voted the shots off of the island, as it were.

This is a commercial site, and the owner has spoken. If we don't agree with him, we can buy him out and run our own site.

Question answered...

You're kidding, right?

Kidding? Not at all. I'm not saying this is a gathering of the most creative minds in the history of photography. But every member of this forum wants to create images. Otherwise they wouldn't be here.
Applying our own biases to that creative process isn't something that should be done lightly. Certainly "objectifying women" should not be a criteria for censoring someone's work. (And clearly that doesn't appear to be what happened in this instance)

Hello Chris....I agree with what you wrote, but I had another thread closed awhile ago....it was a thread about a Bangkok bikini party and that thread got closed down but it did not get deleted...in fact, that thread has been "hit/viewed" more than 2000 times since it has been closed.....

Like I said earlier, I didn't see what people posted last night, but I find it hard to imagine that there were many posts that needed to be deleted or lots of time dedicated to deleting the offensive posts, instead of just "nuking" the whole thread.......

not so sure, but maybe the photos in the thread were offensive to someone in power here, and they decided to just erase the whole thing.

Hey Al, I agree with you .......we are all guests here.

cheers, michael

Correct!

This is retarded. I saw the thread. There were nice pics and people were commenting more the cameras on the shirts than the girls. If some ass said something wrong, just delete its comment, not the whole thread...

Better delete your use of the word 'retarded'! Bob's gonna get offended!!!

I absolutely don't see why this thread had to be removed, can we please be adults about this and decide for ourselves whether we're fit to be able to look at women wearing clothing????
How is it possible that on the one hand it's sexist and vulgar (according to the rules you used to delete the thread) to look at women wearing t-shirts and on the other hand it's perfectly fine to post 'fine art' nudes???
If the comments were offensive, do something about THOSE.. warn the writer, remove them if absolutely necessary, but don't put a vulgar stamp on photos that are absolutely harmless.
Seriously, very disappointing behavior if you ask me.

110% with you on this.

Come on.
In other threads I read suggestions like "LET'S MAKE A WOMEN-ONLY SUBFORUM! YAY!" (that's right, round them up in one small place so they're easier to spot, maybe drill a few drooling holes in the fence.) and now girls in t-shirts (not only t-shirts mind you) are sexist.

I don't really get it.

can someone start a "Dudes in Montreux Jazz Festival T-Shirts"-thread? I need to release some sexist energy against my own gender and myself.

Great, my girlfriend just asked me why the thread got deleted and I tried to explain to her that someone wrote something bad about the photo last night. I then showed her the thread and she read it and saw what Steven wrote

"The problem with the thread was the sexist attitudes about the pics."

Then she looked up the word "sexist" because she wanted to be sure what it meant, and then she asked me a bunch of questions. I tried to explain to her that the majority of people here (rff) are not like that and that someone just said something that offended the mods and/or the owner......well her next question was "what did the person say" and then "why didn't they just delete what the person said".....I don't really have good answers for her....

anyways, if a mod or Steven happen to read this, and if you have time, could you please send me PM and let me know what someone said....I don't really care who said it, but I am curious to know why my photos got deleted....thanks

cheers, michael

Nudes aren't an objectification of women and girls in T shirts are? I realize the excuse for deleting the thread was explained as the comments rather than the photos, but I can only conclude that since the photos as well as the comments were deleted, that any threads with photos of women in them will now be deleted, nude or clothed.

The problem with censorship is that it always subjective, never consistent, and totalitarian in nature.
