What have you just NOT bought!

I have not purchased the XE-1 body that has been burning in my head (I could sell the Nikon and some lenses to cover this),
nor a good Apple computer & monitor that I need with some good 16-bit software editor and calibration tools.

Clive, why are you passing on the VF-2? I've resisted for quite a while, in the hope that a used Fuji X-e1 will come my way for not much more than a new VF-2. Then the X-e1 (with m-adapter) will become my VF!

It seems hard to justify paying nearly $200 for something that's optional (and so small!) when I can pick up top-of-the-line film cameras for that much. Heck, the EOS-M is only $299!

I chose to buy a Leicaflex SL kit rather than an Olympus E-P5 or Sony NEX 6. Why? Because I already have the GXR-M, and when I acquire a Leica M(240) in a year or two, I want the longer R lenses for it. The GXR is more than just sufficient until then.

I didn't buy another Hasselblad lens either. Because the SWC, the 500CM + 80 + 150 are enough.

I didn't buy a couple of Guggenheim Museum mugs either, but I just might order them on line as I think they're cool looking.

I didn't buy the James Turrell book at the Guggenheim, but I might just order that on line too.

I didn't rent a car while on this trip. I borrowed an old Mercedes 350SLD (or something like that) from a friend. I love it, driving it feels like piloting a medium sized yacht and the 350 Turbo Diesel sounds like a watercraft engine too. My brother wants to record it for backdrop sound in his latest video production.

There is an infinity of things I didn't buy.

I was in Best Buy purchasing a computer for my daughter and saw an open box Fuji x10 for $166... showed it to "She-who-must-be-obeyed" and went hmmmm. Didnt buy it, but have now stored up "self control credits" for the future....

Oh Dear...LOTS
And I BLAME RFF & Flickriver for giving Me the 'feverish' Mind

Xpro1 , XE1 with its 35 1.4
Leicaflex 1 or 2 with a 60 2.8 Elmarit R macro
Nikon F3 with a 28 2.8 ais

But then I come to my Senses,
There is only so much Time I can Shoot
I have Gear...great gear in fact
So Use what I have...Life is Good !!

I've resisted a Horizon panoramic camera at a good price. It would be fun but I could see myself shooting a few rolls and then forgetting about it. I need to clear out some of the current gear that is not being used first. I also resisted a Mamiya C220 for the same reason - good camera, fun, not sure how much I would use it.

In the last month, I:

- sold my D600
- returned a 50 Cron v4
- continued my yearslong streak of resisting Fuji X digitals

Stay strong, men!

I passed up a very good deal on an F2 and several lenses that I wanted mainly because I've already gone over my equipment budget for the month and need to spend on film.

I did not buy another Bilora Bella 44. Perhaps two of these is enough.

That's a coincidence, I bought a 35mm 2.5 FL on a whim a few days back (awaiting delivery). I know very little about the lens other than the fact that it's slightly faster than my 3.5 and I like the 35mm focal length.

What are you looking to get out of that lens, if I may ask?

Clive...

If this FL lens is of the same vintage quality that is in the 100mm 3.5 FL lens I just traded for...I'll be thrilled...
I have the 50mm 1.4 SSC (thrift shop find $50) and really wanted a wide angle for the A-1...I like the 35mm FOV...
I am also new to Canons so I'm learning...the two lenses I currently have are very good...

The Nokton 50 1.5 currently in the classifieds looked awfully tempting, but I already had a line on the little Skopar 50 2.5, that I've been hunting down for a little while, so the Nokton had to wait. Might just bypass it and go for an M-Nokton at some point.

I didn't buy a mint black Leicaflex SL2 with Summicron 50.

It really bugged me that I missed out on a good deal....so to compensate I bought a nice M2 with 50 Elmar for essentially the price of the lens. Is that wrong?
