What have you just sent for repair ?

The anti-reflective screen covering on my RX-1 is peeling off and have contacted Sony to find out where I can send it to get repaired.

sent and got back...

sent and got back...

Sent a nikon S3 to Dave Easterwood of Daves Camera. Corner of the baseplate took a shot, or should i come clean and say banged it against a rock after tripping on rocks. Dinged it pretty bad although the o/c still worked although stiff. Anyway sent it into Dave as there were other problems: shutter wouldn't fire and film advance didn't work.
Dave tore it completely down and replaced advance mechanism, did a complete CLA, the camera was very dirty, adjusted the shutter speeds, they were definitely off by about 1-2 stops. Now they are spot on, even 1/1000. Adjusted and cleaned rangefinder and even found a replacement back in his stash of parts.
He called and said what he had found, and communicated regularly. A great guy to deal with.
The camera is beautiful now, working smooth and even the rangefinder patch is contrasty and much better than what it was.
A great and friendly guy to talk to as he is very knowledgeable and loves to talk about cameras.
That's about it. Thanks,

The Sony NEX cameras have the same flaw. I am not sure if they cover this and if they do it is possible, maybe likely that it will happen again. In the end I placed a stick on protector over mine and you would never know it had happened. Bloody nuisance - you would think they would learn and do something about it.

I recently bought a pristine Pentax SP1000 on eBay. I sent it to Eric Hendrickson for CLA.
Despite being in the middle of a move to a new location Eric had it back to me in no time.
For a grand total of $100 I now have the equivalent of a brand new 40-year-old camera.

My Leica MM back to New Jersey for sensor evaluation :(

What is sensor evaluation? Did you have a problem?

I've just sent my:

- M9 to have its cracked sensor replaced (Leica are doing under warranty even though it's over 2, thank goodness)

-Monochrom to have an early low battery warning issue investigated and fixed

Last month i bought a mint Widelux F6, but after close inspection, it needed some work. Sent it to Bob at Precision Camera Works (the same day i received it), and just got it back this week. Drum replacement, seals, CLA, etc. The speeds seemed off to me when i received it, and the aperture setting was stuck.

Needless to say, i got it back in perfect working order and im running a roll of tri-x through it =)

After a local camera service for sensor cleaning they showed me that the sensor had five Pits/Defects. I sent it to NJ for evaluation. If Leica agrees that it is defective I hope they replace the sensor. Should know something next week.

On my first outing with my Nikon 35/1.4, and I mean NEW, I dropped my camera saving my dog who'd fallen down a hole. I should have it back next week. I'll be £200 lighter :bang:

Hi,
I sent my 11 year-old Bronica 645RF to EuroHiTech in the UK a few months ago. They replaced the winding mechanism, clutch and a CLA. Came back like new. Great service.

Last repair was a 50mm Collapsible Summicron sent to Focal Point for a front element recoat on which they did a beautiful job.

Next up will be an M4-2 which is in desperate need of a CLA, the hard part is putting it down long enough to pack it up and send it off. I've made a solemn vow to not put any more film through it until that happens.

urgent help required!

I am just about to take my Oly 35RD in - not only the usual sticky shutter problem, but it is not firing on "A" at all.

the repair shop rang to say the meter was not working and that such a fault was not reparable.

What can I do?

Any suggestions for London, England?

My Father has an Olympus RD in the classifieds at the moment. He had it serviced by Ed Trozka in the U.K. and he did a fantastic job. I don't have his number but I will look it out. Feel free to PM me if I don't reply in a day or so, I don't mind a nudge!

Hope that helps...

Leica 28/2.8 for 6-bit modification

Leica 28/2.8 for 6-bit modification

So actually I dropped it off a week ago, but I sent in a Gen-III 28mm Elmarit for 6-bit coding by Leica. Any guesses how long to complete the work? :bang:

Writing about camera repair: I was asked by a friend who replaces Light Seals? Does KEH still perform this service for $45? Any other recommendations? Thanks.
