Canada, eh.
I just got back from being at a friend's cottage for the weekend. It was a boys' poker/golf/fishing weekend. Glorious! I took my M6 with 35mm Summaron, 50mm J3, and 90mm Elmar. Used the 90 for only a few shots, finished 3 rolls of HP5+ (36's) in total. Tried a few moonlight shots (almost full, clear sky) of a buddy fishing from the dock, 10sec at f3.5, with the camera supported by a deck chair arm. I should know this, but was that exposure close? Got to take a nap Sat. afternoon, we ate like kings (2 inch thick BBQ'ed sirloin's), and I'm a few dollars richer! Fantastic time. Back to reality!

Just checked the Fred Parker site (http://www.fredparker.com/ultexp1.htm) and full moonlight exposure away from city, is EV -3 which, for 400 iso film is f4 @ 30sec. I underexposed a stop or 2. Please remember that this was at 1am at a boy's cottage weekend. My thinking may have been somewhat impaired.

Developed the rolls and scanned some negs. The moonlit night shots were way too under exposed. Here are some others. The film is curled longitudinally and causes the darker middle of the image, when scanned.

Sounds like a very good time, indeed! Frank have you processed the moonlit shots? They might be useable, if not great...I haven't used HP5+ in a very long time and can't recall how much latitude it may have. The other thing that occurs to me:
Please remember that this was at 1am at a boy's cottage weekend. My thinking may have been somewhat impaired.
How were you timing the exposure? Perhaps the time wasn't quite what you thought?
Rob

Rob, I thought I was counting to 10 seconds and I thought the lens was set to f3.5. One or both of these thoughts were incorrect, because the negs were blank for those frames. 🙁

Frank:

Love to see that not only do you go Old School for your camera gear but also your fishing as well. That's a nice looking "Mitchell" by Garcia that you got there. Definately the best spinning reel that I ever used!!

What kind of scanner did you decide on? Is it good for prints as well as your scans that you use for the Web? I'm asking strictly from a 35mm point of view.

Nice shots... did you ever catch anything?

Scott

Hi Joe, yeah blank. 🙁 Thanks for the offer though.

Hi Scott, yep, great reel! Another classic design and quality built tool. I am somehow drawn to them in many aspects in my life. I ended up with a CanoScan 8400f sflatbed canner capable of 35mm and 120. I haven't tried printing from a scan yet - printer needs ink.

I caught a very small smallmouth bass that night. Let it go.

Frank,

For a Gibbus moon (3 days past a full moon) for HP-5 with reciprocity factored in you would need an exposure of f4.0 and 12 minutes.

Wayne

Thanks Wayne! (That explains the blank frames.) Here are some more shots:
