Oh he was definitely aware. I talked to him for a short minute. He still shoots analog from time to time, but hadn't had time to print anymore. He was moving places and the enlarged couldn't come with. I got extremely lucky!

I fully agree to say that a Dutchman who prefers to give something valuable to whomever wants to take it for free and use it, rather than easily selling it for his own profit, can be called "strange". That fellow citizen may even be a foreigner living in The Netherlands.
those who did not enjoy the darkroom got rid of their equipment. Prices dropped and everyone can now buy a fantastic enlarger. Or find them in the street. Or just be given one.
Spend your money on lots of film, lots of chemicals and lots of paper !!! That being essential to grow as a photographer and a printer.
