What is the oldest camera you still own that you bought new ?

When Nikon introduced the F2, I replaced my F body with an F2 body. The F2 was a new and improved version of the 20-year old Nikon F. Minor improvements included a top shutter speed of 1/2000th of a second compared to 1/1000th of a second; a top flash synchronization speed of 1/80th of a second compared to 1/60th of a second; an improved metering system; and a better ergonomic design. One major improvement was the F2 motor drive that was interchangeable with any F2 body whereas each Nikon F motor drive had to be custom fitted to each F body.

Over the decades, I have used a variety of small format, medium format, and large format film cameras. I have also used a variety of digital cameras. Most of the cameras that I bought were bought used.

One of the three Nikon F2 cameras that I still own and use was purchased in 1971. It is the oldest camera that I bought new and still own and use. The F2 is my personal favorite of all cameras.

Kodak Brownie Holiday

66 years ago, still have it.
But I didn't buy it...was a present from my parents...does that count?

2 years later (Geez, I had GAS when I was 11?!)
Kodak Hawkeye
It has a flash attch and the "B" setting lacking in the Holiday...oh boy!
This I bought myself 64 years ago and still have.

My oldest cameras that I bought new cameras would be two Black Body Pentax MX's.
Next would be a Zone VI 4x5 View Camera...
I do have an older Vivitar 400SL but my parents bought that one...
For the 4x5 camera, I'm working on getting a Carl Zeiss Tessar 13.5cm 4.5 lens up and running again. I recently bought one with great clear lenses but problems with the shutter...so I've picked up another lens with unknown lens quality but what should have a great shutter...

The only cameras I’ve ever bought new are digital, and I don’t have them anymore! I got a Panasonic FX9 for a trip to Argentina in 2005, and I gave it to a cousin several years later. Do iPhones count? All of my film cameras were used, but some of them were brand new in box or in like new condition, if that counts.

I think I have two film cameras that I bought new -- all others were bought used. So I think that means my Yashica T4 is the oldest (oldER, properly). Got it probably 1995 or so.

Rollei B35, in 1981. In university, I had a Pentax MX that I was shooting for the student newspaper, and wanted an affordable camera to carry on a belt case, that I would have at all times... and fit with my skateboarding-to-class ways. The MX was sold when I moved to Canon F-1N, which I do still have.

Kodak #2 Folding Autographic Brownie
Bought it in 1915 when I was a wee laddie.
I am old.

Yup, guessing the shops wouldn’t have let you buy something unless you were at least 7-ish, so happy 112th year!

I was in photography school with Daguerre... we called him “the kid”...

Embarrassingly... the Fujifilm X-Pro2 ...just over 4 years old. Will buy a film SLR soon... Pentax MX or LX likely. I'll post back in 10 years.

My parents bought me a Brownie Flash Six-20 somewhere in the 1940's as I recall. The first camera I bought myself was a Kodak Tourist II with 1/800 second shutter in 1954.
Still have them both.
