I came across this "lens" but not sure what it is.

It says Leitz Elmar 3.5 but it protrudes inward into the camera I think. Not exactly what to make out of it.

Serial Number: 438950.

Somebody's science experiment. They took an Elmar and converted it into something else that evidently also didn't need an adjustable aperture. It would be interesting to know what that bayonet fits onto.

Maybe it didn't displayed on the photo but lens still got the aperture adjustment dial. And I'm afraid you are correct, someone experiment.

Yeah, it's hard to tell what is going on because it is back-lit. Am I mistaking the extension locking bayonet for a mounting bayonet? And is there an o-ring around the interior barrel? Also looks like the screw mount has been removed, your doing?

PF

Not my doing. It is as I found it. I think it was filed away. Will post a comparation photo to compare to actual Elmar 3.5. The extension locking bayonet is much smaller and also Elmar 3.5 don't have an extension bayonet (not extensible).

Auggggh! That went past me. I was thinking this was a 5cm not 3.5cm. It's definitely been made to mount on something else then. I've boxed up most of my stuff so don't have any examples to compare it to. It appears too big for a Deckle mount. Maybe modified to work on an Exacta.

Hmmm, I cannot see the photos either. Often trying a different web browser will be helpful, but I tried Apple Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge but no joy...

It is as if they have modified the lens mount to use it on a camera (?) that has a significantly greater lens to film distance than a normal LTM.

I would have suggested an SLR of some description but the protruding lens would get whacked by the mirror.
