What lenses are usable on Zorki C?

I have read that a Zorki C will accept all Leica and Leica-type screw-mount lenses. Is this correct?

So, if I have a good light-tight Zorki body, with a good shutter, I could use a 50mm f/1.5 Voigtlander Nokton, like the ones at KEH for less than $300, right? Before I spend almost $300 for a lens, I just want to confirm that I am correct.

I understand that there could be some error in the rangefinder coupling. That's why there are distance and DOF scales on the lens. I'm not worried about the rangefinder accuracy.

It may seem silly to put a $300 lens on a $30 camera, but in this case, what is the camera but a box to hold the film?

And the lens should at least hold its value, as I see it.

Thanks in advance for the advice on my Zorklander idea ...

The CV lens will screw right on and work fine, and the RF will be just right too.
The only slight problem you may encounter with that combo is the Nokton is pretty big,
bigger still with the stock hood on it, so some of the Zorki's vf will be obstructed. I just tried my nokton on my 2c and with the lens hood off, the viewfinder is not too blocked, less than 1/5 I'd say. The case won't fit over the lens, but you probably have done away with the top half of the case anyway.
Both the lens and the zorki will hold their value- the zorki will actually be worth more, once you get it into the US..

Bill, since you're new here, the FSU Cameras forum is all about Soviet cameras & lenses (FSU = Former Soviet Union) like your Zorki. Your questions will get more attention there.

You probably need to have the Zorki body and rangefinder registered for the Leitz standard for a f1.5 lens. You could do this yourself with care.

Hi Bill, I’m not sure if the Voigtlander lens will work on the Zorki. How ever if your not concerned about focus accuracy and you just want a box to hold the film. You could save $30, with a build your own pin hole camera. Just enlarge the hole to fit the lens and duck tape, presto your in shooters heaven. Actually my choice in your case would be the Voightlander, model, Bessa-L. $60 new 2 years ago. You will need a viewer for your lens but when done you won’t need duck tape. Bill

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. I wondered what FSU stood for. I mean, I know "Go! Seminoles!" but I had a feeling that wasn't right ...

Oh, and Point of View, we have that Wertheimer photo of Elvis hanging on the wall of our family room.
