I dont understand how 10% can be M8s even allowing for the poll bias. Have Leica made a lot of M8?

Yes but the M5 was sold for years and we have 15 M5 votes so how come we have 15 M8 votes? Hyperactive M8 users? Only 9 M4-2, I know they are not high production and I understand this is still a small sample...

I don't understand why not all M cameras are listed as options here: CL, CLE, Hexar, Zeiss Ikon. Limiting it to just those designated as "M" seems a bit restrictive, and it would be revealing to see how many folks own "true" Ms and one or more of the others.

I own two M3s (one DS converted to SS, the other SS), a Hexar RF and a Leitz Minolta CL.

I think that was the point though - this is the "Leica M series" forum after all.
 
i got rid of my two M6 to pay for M7 and MP. A little financial blood-letting but I love these two cameras.

yesterday bought BP Leicavit for the MP. I'm good.
 
the digital madness really is nice in order to afford many M's that was impossible for me some years ago...
Do love my M3, M4 and CLs
 
M2, M3 ---> for what reason would a man want or need to get a MP with these bodies in the bag? Perhaps I am missing something the MP has or brings to the table?
 
I am happy with my M3 and with the lastly acquired M6 with the 0.85 finder. I used to own an M4-MOT and an M5, but I sold those many years ago.

Looking at the figures I question if the M8 has been a success for Leica or not. If these figures are, relatively speaking, are representative of the volume of the different models sold world wide, then M8 has only won back some 20% of the 'original' Leica users.

Could I be right?
 
20% seems like a pretty big number when you consider that the camera has been on sale for less than a year.
