Auction #140627019012. I am not able to figure out the model of this camera- it looks a lot like the IIB, except it does not have the 3-magnification rangefinder lever. Also resembles the SII, except for the style of the collar around the shutter release. Peter Dechert's book discusses the variations of the Canon RF line, and mentions in several places that hybrids are known to exist. I have emailed the seller asking for further info on the lens, which is probably a 5cm/3.5 Nikkor. Can anyone ID the camera and lens using the respective serial numbers?

Hi,

It is a model S-II and was released either late in 1947 or early in 1948.

That shutter release collar was common on most models before the model III when the flared collar became the norm.

Often you see pre model III being sold with missing collars and the reason is that it had to be removed to screw on the cable release.

The lens is one of the 1000, 5cm f/3.5 that Nikon (Nippon Kogaku) supplied to Canon ( Seiki Kogaku) in 1947. They supplied 600 in 1948 as the final issue of lenses. Since 1946 Canon had been producing there own 5cm f/3.5 Serenars lenses, be it in short production numbers. Peter
