Hi All,
Saw an MP today at a shop and noticed a couple of things were a bit strange (to me at least)..wasnt allowed to take photos of it, it got me curious though..it was a .85
- The top plate windows look like an M3's as in the viewfinder and rangefinder windows' frames protrude a bit..
- Paint not as glossy as a regular looking MP next to it.
- Serial number was M3 1----- instead of MP
- And it has two flash sockets on the back like older Ms instead of 1
- vulcanite instead of the regular mp skin (can be had at alacarte)
- And it has what the ala carte configurator called "classic engraving"
I tried the ala carte configurator, I think you cant make it precisely as described above..
Just curious what kind of MP was it, was it a special edition (if it was, it wasnt priced as one though)...Maybe you guys can explain?
Saving up money to buy it
Thanks in advance

Salamat !
Interesting indeed. For sure it is not the limited edition LHSA MP3. May be a repainted (or paint) M3.
Any battery compartment? A leicavit?
Why do you say it is an MP? It does not look like it according to your description and serial number starting with 1 (million). Unless...
Unless... a pre-series MP, the Original one... The Holy Grail! if it is the case it would cost a lot! But then I do not think it would have a 0.85 VF.
Good luck and thanks for sharing.
Please let us know.

Hello Bananasplit,
Thanks for your reply,
To answer your question,
- Yes it has battery compartment (so not a repainted M3) & no leicavit
- It looks new, I dont think its the old original MP..if it was...the seller seriously mispriced it hehehe..
- Seller said it was an MP and it sure looks like an MP just with odd details..
Thanks again

frankenleica conversion?
They seem to be getting more commonplace.
was kicking around the idea to see if I could plop the MP topplate onto my m6classic.

I believe DAG does some conversion. I've personally saw a MP with a M3 sold here in Singapore before. Should have gotten it back then.

Could be a M3 top on a M6 or M7. Don can change the rewind mechanism too. I've entertained a frankenleica for a while. I have all the donor parts. Just need to send to DAG and await his invoice!
