What new Voigtlander RF or SLR product would you like to see?

Far as I'm concerned, keeping the thread alive so Steve can report what people are saying back to Cosina has merit.
 
Pancake f/1.4, 1.8 or 2 in 24/35/50, rangefinder format. Pancake designed preferred over optical perfection. Older glass designs with swirly bokeh will work if helps in size reduction.

f/1.0 in 35/50 formats in compact rangefinder-size.

Tri-Elmar competitor with f/2.8 24/50 options, or 21/35.
 
Having just discovered the ZM21/4.5 works rather well on the GXR - just wish it was the same size but a couple of stops faster.
So a small 21mm f/2 M mount just for x1.5 crop sensor cameras ( giving 32mm e135.FOV )
 
Still would like to see an Ra camera set up for longer lenses; 50, 75, 90, and 135 framelines.

And would really like to be see an R with just three frame line choices; 35-50-90.

I didn't see this posted anywhere, but I would like to see an emphasis on having curved aperture blades. I know some of the older screw mount lenses had a numerous number of blades resulting in a very round aperture at all stops. This presents a very natural round out-of-focus highlight at even smaller apertures.

I don't know if there are any optical repercussions for having a round aperture through the entire range, but I like the effect on the summar and summitar.

I have a Hassey SWC and CV made a great viewfinder for the 21mm equivalent lens. Well, my request is that they make a viewfinder that is a stand alone rangefinder. They would have to fix a gear to the focus ring on the lens and have that gear connect to the viewfinder. Then I could use something besides zone focusing on my SWC!! I would be in heaven! Next on the list (more reasonable). More models in the Bessa Lineup but with fewer framelines. I love my R4M because I love wide angle and my 21mm Zeiss is great on it. But I don't think I will be putting a 35mm lens on it... instead I will just get another body (R2 or R2M) and put a 35mm on it. So if they could make a body with just 35mm framelines and make it cheaper then I would do that. Have one body for each focal length (or the most popular) - 21mm, 35mm, 50mm and 90mm. If that would make it cheaper to produce (probable) then I would prefer to buy that.

Also make some stuff in different colors... chrome, olive, grey, white.

Use leather on some of your bodies! Sell some editions where leather is an option instead of rubber.

Lastly - Something I don't care for you to make is a digital. Keep on with film. When the huge electromagnetic pulse from the sky comes down and renders all those digital cameras useless I will be happily snapping away with my R4M.

I don't care if they do digital either, at the moment, if you want an M mount digital, there is Sony NEX 7, GXR, used M8/M8.2/M9, m43, R-D1. If Cosina feel that there is too much competition, then who could blame them. They could do full frame, but then how far away would it be priced from a used M9 once the M10 appears?

Cosina have been in business quite while, they've managed that by making the right decisions for them, and *not* making the wrong decisions. They're not a huge business like Microsoft who can afford to make mistake after mistake.

Don't change the optics at all ... I love the rendering qualities, size and weight of these lenses just as they are. To me it's a darn shame that they've discontinued them. Having to buy an adapter increases the cost and adds another thing to juggle.

Beyond that, incorporate Leica M six-bit coding into the current lens line.

Another thought: bring the Micro-FourThirds ultra speed 17.5mm f/0.95 out in M-bayonet mount for use with NEX+adapter and Ricoh GXR M-mount, presuming that it has enough coverage for APS-C format. It would be an interesting specialist lens to use on Leica M8 and M9 even if it didn't cover the entire format.

I'm the only one who feels a urgent need for a 28/1,4 in M-mount?
Seems to be really a gap in the market.




(A Leica one wouldn't help - unaffordable...)
 
An internally updated sensor R-D1 would be just fine by me. Meanwhile I'm carrying on with my originals. Leave the dials and analogue control please.
