What - no strap lugs?

I must say it looks very neat, for a copy!

I must say the Nazi logo takes away for me any desire to have it, even for free. Of course anybody is entitled to his/her own opinions.

I thought some are complaining about strap-lugs. Here is a tip how you can make a DIY Zorki 2 without paying the premium price. 😀

Cheers,

I totally agree. Whats the point of a fake NAZI leica? If it was an original it would have been part of history, but now its just a piece of Nazi glorification... and made ironically in Russia, a country that paid so bitterly for the victory.

That's certainly copied on a Leica that must exist somewhere in a parallel universe .. as for the swastika, I agree with you guys... and old "classical" topic on russian "wartime Leica copies". I like that "back door" however.

Zhang : first I thought you had a Zorkified Leica !!

I noticed that the first "leica" has to be from submarine and the second - from SS-Troops, but why it has the red finish? Maybe to symbolize the blood of the victims, killed by SS-men?

Leicas from the parallel universe in which nazi Germany won the war...

Absolutely. I couldn't add anything to what's been said - but apart from the atrocious taste, what about light leaks? I wouldn't care to trust that door...

With all that skill, he could have faked something really interesting, like the medium format FED of 1939 (there's a grainy picture of one somewhere on the web - I assume its a total fake, but oh my, it's tempting.......) 😀

since we're on the subject of 'no straps', i have a FED 2 type F that comes without any strap lugs. it came with its original leather half-case with built-in strap. to save the case, i usually just shoot without any straps. but it's kinda hard at times...you know what i mean.

any ideas on what i can do in order for me to be hands-free but still having the camera strapped to my neck?....or just even on my wrist?

On the subject of nazi memorabilia (and I am dead against it - who would be weird enough to walk around in public with this camera? I would die of shame) I used to work for a bookshop when I was a teenager and part of my job involved going to militaria fairs with a stall to sell books. After the first one (young and a bit shocked 19 years old) I said to my boss how amazed I was by the amount of nazi gear for sale. He said coolly - "Yes - and some of it is genuine"

Sick people buy stuff with swastikas on that they wouldn't otherwise buy so the market supplies the demand. Did anyone see that Hitler watercolour for sale a few weeks ago. Yuk!

Steve: How about we put the optical illusions IN THE RANGEFINDER? A series of mirrors that go nowhere. Or do they? Or DON'T they?

Camera? Bad taste, definitely. However, I've a very keen interest in Nazi Germany -- not because I'm particularly fond of their ideals or beliefs or anything like that. The Nazi party was an institution holding some of the most backwards values and ideals in history, and responsible for some of the most heinous acts of the early 20th century.

However, I am curious, and completely intrigued by the matter of what, exactly, makes a nation like that tick. The life of the common German in a completely authoritarian nation whose leaders have some very lofty goals, at the expense of human life. I'm very interested in knowing what it would have been like for the German people, and what might be available to them is a good start. If there were, ever, a camera such as this one, bearing the outright glorification of the Nazi rule (which was not uncommon!) I would indeed like to have it, simply as a thing to stare at and wonder. Would it be a user? Honestly, likely not, unless it were in fact a Barnack Leica, and only if I didn't have another that worked equally well. And in that case, it would likely not leave the house uncovered -- there are a lot of people who are very sensitive about that sort of thing, still.
