hi guys
i currently have a 35mm skopar that fits my bessa R (LTM mount right?)
i was wondering what other 35mm lenses can i choose from?
my skopar is f2.5
are there any that are faster than the 2.5 that 1)fits the bessa r 2) has good quality optics?

thanks all!

hi thanks alot
do you know where i can find information about the canon, nikkor and letiz lenses? photos and optics evaluation?
maybe someone can point me to the right direction
thanks!

(i found the 35 1.7 on cameraquest though)
🙂

thanks roland!
i will definitely check the links out
1000usd is way beyong my budget
RF is just my side hobby. most of my money goes into SLR lenses 🙂
looks like i will save up for the 1.7.
i wonder if the price difference is worth the difference between the 35/2.5 and 35/1.7

The 35.17 is not only 1 stop faster but has a bit of a different behavior.
Very sharp and more mellow in color/contrast. Which I like. Good bokeh, too.
If you are patient you can get a good one used for around US 250.

I wasn't trying to discourage you to get the Summicron. But I think it is cheaper to
buy a Leica M camera and an M-mount 35/2 than the screw-mount
version of the lens 🙂

Cheers,

Roland.
hi roland
thanks for the advice.
yeah i bought the R because i wanted something entry level.
i love my R alot! Just tossing with the ideas of getting a faster lens😀
I am not discouraged but perhaps i will get an M mount body much later into the future.
alot of my investments are plonked down in the crazy expensive canon L ! :bang:
why is it more mellow? i want contrast. the "pop" to me is really important..
hmmm 😕

I have both the 35/2.5 and 35/1.7. I almost *never* use the 2.5 for B&W anymore, unless I'm developing in Diafine. It's just too contrasty...doesn't leave much in the midtones to work with later on. By comparison, the 1.7 renders good (not high) contrast with very pleasing midtones.

Don't confuse "contrast" and "pop". 🙂

>>For the Nikkor lens, I don't know. But I know that it costs more
than 1000 US as well.<<

It's usually under $1,000. The hard part is finding one, because there are very few around. The Nikon/Contax/Kiev mount version seems to sell for about $500 to $600 in good user condition. The Leica LTM-mount version sells for several hundred dollars more because the Leica mount implies that someone might actually use the lens for photography instead of a display case.

Kevincameras has a mint LTM version listed for $1,350. If you know Kevin's pricing, he offers absolutely top-notch stuff at top-notch prices. You pay a premium because he's got it in-stock today instead of waiting six months for one to turn up on Ebay.

I've never compared it to Leica or Canon glass. I only know that I really like its look. I tend to shoot it wide open or at f/2 in failing light at 1/8th shutter speed (or halfway between 1/8 and 1/15). The photo below is demonstration in Seoul, South Korea, in 2003. Also attaching some examples from this year.

errr yeah if i am not wrong.
i am still quite new to the RF world...
the bessa r is an LTM mount yeah ? 😛 😱

Haagen,

Yes, you are correct. The Bessa R is LTM as is the Bessa L. The Bessa T and the R2 are M mount. I beleive there are now the R3 & R3A M mounts as well.

Clearly the Nokton would not work for him as there is not an "M-to-LTM" adapter. My thought was maybe he should look at the M system if he was more interested in fast glass as opposed to LTM cameras. In either case he has some great options available.

Best Regards,

Bob
