What paper will make me understand fibre?

So yesterday, inspired by this thread and coupled with the lousy weather here in Halifax, I decided to give my 'new' print dryer a go.

For the first print I put the temp control on 2 and placed the print face down on the dryer. As I'd read on APUG, the print was ready in about 10 minutes and simply lifted off the plate. Seriously, I would compare the glossiness to that which is obtained by using Ilford RC glossy. I can't say as I really like it, but it was an experiment, and I now have a new trick in my bag should I so wish.

The second print was dried with the emulsion up against the canvas. I placed it on the dryer at the '1' setting for 10 minutes. I'm very happy with the result. The gloss is exactly what I got from drying in the microwave, but the print dried perfectly evenly and flat...Now this is what I was hoping for. All in all, I would absolutely recommend picking up one of these print dryers on the cheap from eBay if you were/are having the same frustrations as I was with drying FB paper.

Just remember to have the belt well cleaned or replaced.
It may have too much thiosulfate residue in there

Whether I dry in air, or use my dryer I get the same gloss finnish with MGIV fibre glossy.

I've heard folks say you get more of a gloss with the dryer but it's not what I found. And drying em back to back in air gave a me a flat print so I don't use the dryer anymore.

But if you really want a super high gloss finnish get a glazing plate for your dryer.
I've never tried it, and I've heard it can be tricky, so you'd have to ask others how exactly it is done.

I did actually wash the canvas, following the recommendations on APUG, but please forgive my ignorance; what is thiosulfate and what process leaves it behind?
