Hello folks,
i own a beautiful leica MP in silver chrome finish.
I just realized that i don't use it much... because it is so nice and pristine, i don't want to scratch or ding it ! I much more use my M3 that has seen some field.
So i'm beginning to consider selling that silver MP, but i've never seen one in the classifieds.
What do you guys think of how much i couldi ask for such a camera ?
Thanks !

I've been casually following the prices on ebay for a while, and a good clean MP with .72x magnification generally sells for around $3200. A .85x VF might fetch a bit more because they are less common. I haven't paid attention to the ones with with .58x.

Aperture UK have one for £1990, in Exc+++ condition. I would say that Aperture tends to be a smidge on the expensive side, but not by much. Also, a camera sold by a dealer is worth more than on sold by an individual, as they provide a warranty.

I've been keeping an eye on usa prices. 0.72 models in excellent condition have been listed for 2700-3200 over the last 3 weeks. I haven't noticed any selling on the auction site though.

I would disagree actually. Aperture just sold a 75 Summilux for £2000 which is a good deal (which I missed, grrr).
Red Dot in London has two MP chrome (.72 and .85) for £2490.

Thanks for your answers. So the right price (in euro) seems around 2500-3000€.
Owning such a valuable item makes me even more scary to use it... it's a shame because it is so nice to use

Just use it. It's a nice camera. What's the worst that could happen? It might break, or it might get stolen. But probably neither of those things will happen, and you'll just enjoy using it.

Just get it insured (maybe you can add it on 'all risks' to your household policy) and stop worrying.
