The "Summer of Film" part of my ongoing "$4000 Equipment Quest" is proceeding wonderfully. I've eliminated lots of options, still have my RD1 with its just okay lenses and have bought a Contax G1 plus 21, 45 and 90 lenses to go with it. I'll be taking both those cameras to Western Michigan in three days to compare and explore their ways with both color and B/W. I live in Eastern Montana and neither place is the Pro Lab Capital of the World to handle E6 and conventional BW from the Contax. Since I'll need to be mailing film out anyway, the lab could be anywhere —
The immediate question is, then, "Where would or do you send your film for the best quality work at the best price?"
(Incidentally, getting together that hypothetical $4000 for the outfit would require selling off 33 years worth of accumulated gear and it may be unrealistic to think I could raise all that. If you're interested in my responses to your pointed questions about it all, you could look up my last entries in the "What outfit would you put together for ± $4000?" thread, which is currently on page 5 of this forum. Further dialogue would be welcome.)
