Rex canum cattorumque
I was in San Francisco over the weekend, shooting with an M8 and a 28 Hexanon (the latter.... after minor recalibration for an M8 basically crushes every other lens I have for the camera... ). But one problem I kept running into was that I was always a little bit short on viewing angle for some things (example: shooting up a hill). I have a 21mm, but by my estimates, its angle of view on an M8 (like a 28mm) would not really do it where a 35mm equivalent wouldn't.
I know from my Kodak 14n and 17-35/2.8 AFs (24x36mm sensor) that 20mm seems to be about the magic spot for the vertical subjects - any wider and things get dicey.
Has anyone used the 18mm Zeiss Distagon? Are there any other realistic alternatives to the WATE or the 15mm Zeiss? I would look at CV except that I like to be able to cap the lens to drop the camera in a coat pocket. Also, you can't really stick a UV/IR on the CV 15.
Insights?
