Hi, any suggestions as to what scanner you would advise to use for my Fuji GW690III negs ? I'm looking to spend about £300-£400 UK pounds. Cheers in advance for any feedback or advice, much appreciated.
I would assume that any Epson with medium format capabilites should work. The test would be if the scanner film holders can accept 2 or 3 6x6 frames. I have used two different Epsons, 1680 & 4990, for 6x7 negatives. There is room for 2 6x9 negatives in the film holders. Friends of mine use the v700 & v750 for 6x7 as well. All of the above accept 4x5. When you wish to move up.
Clarification: The Epson medium format holders accept 3 rows of film. The opening is approximately 3 6x6 frames.
I can echo this, as well. It's been my experience...I'm pretty clueless as to software, tinkering around etc. but the built-in software as well as minor work in Photoshop gives me terrific results.
I'd like to get the Betterscanning glass holders as I've heard they help give even finer results. And I haven't even used the Silverfast software, which I've heard helps fine-tune scans even more (but the interface looks pretty confusing, to me)
I could not get good scans from the Epson V500, even with medium format. They always came out wayyy oversharpened. I guess I need some software help...

I have a Canon 8800F that works fine for 6x9 negatives. However if I was to buy one now I would get the Epson 700 because it has the greater dynamic range needed for positives and can do large format as well.
