i just realized that my 28/3.5 will be showing up soon and i have not given a thought to a hood for it.
what shade are people using for it.
it's a 34mm filter size.
i have three 34 mm shades but i don't think they are for anything that wide.

i used the normal one that comes with it without any problem, this i believe is the standard one that comes with the 25 skopar as well.

Says the Canon Lenses manual: "Do not use lens hood of any kind".

Yes, I have a 28/3.5. Keeps me happy. The one brick wall test did show it to have slightly soft corners. (But not as soft corners as a 50/1.5 has wide open.) Nothing very offensive about the unsoftness, the lens has given me pictures I'm happy with. The chrome finder is excellent.
I'm not super-critical about the optics for my Canon. If I have a serious challenge, or need wide open sharpness, I switch to the Topcon Super D. Larger lenses yield sharper pictures. But it's a big beast, what I love about the Canon RF is the size. That's why the Canon 50/1.4 doesn't tempt me that much, its over my "size" threshold.

Joe: I had this lens (sold at the same crazy time as my M2) and it didn't seem to need a hood. It was a good lens. Some of them don't have filter threads. An old 34mm screw in hood for a 35/3.5 Acall fit perfectly, held Series VI filters and didn't vignette. Considering Olden (or was it Wall St.?) cleared out the Acall in the mid-60's for less than $20.00, they seem to be selling for ridiculous prices now. I threw mine away after dropping it onto concrete at Mosport in the early 70's. Saved the hood, though.

this is coming from australia and by the photos looks like it has been around. i'm hoping the glass is good.
i have been using my 35/2 without a hood lately and so far it has been ok.
my 35/2.8 has the little leica hood on it and it never comes off. even with the hood it's still a tiny lens.
