I'm going to Barcelona in about 6 hours
I'm bringing my Leica of course doh (yes I know to be careful as I heard there were alot of pick pockets...not that they'd dare take my camera, I'll kick them with my heels!).
Anyway...
So I'm always shooting black and white HP5...I was thinking if I should load a roll of colour...and if I do, should I use Kodak Portra 400VC or Kodak Gold Max 200 (as I've never used this one before).
With the colour, I'm not that fussed about it, I don't mind using a cheap colour film (I can save my Kodak Portra for other important projects).
I'm also bringing a small digital compact and I was thinking I could shoot colour on that? and shoot b/w on Leica?
I DUNNO! :bang: I feel like using the Kodak Gold 200 as there are only 24 frames if I'm not mistaken. So I can just use it up quickly if I feel the need to shoot b/w.

A few years ago the RFF Euro meet-up was in Barcelona. This group on Flickr shows some colour and black-and-white shots from various locations . . . .

I think a small digital, or film, p+s (ideally with a flash, as that gives you yet another option) is indeed handy to use as an alternative at the right moment.
Have fun, and good luck with the weather

Better keep HP5 in your Leica and shoot color with your digital. La Rambla, day and night, offers hundreds of interesting frames to capture.. visit La Sagrada Familia too.. and give my regards to Christopher Columbus..

what they said.
For some reason I see B/W better with the leica anyway, color w/ an SLR, view camera, or digital.

Pero tienes que tomar la película de color. Kodak Ektar 100 would be sumptuous for Barca. It is so timeless, like here in Padova from last year. I hate cheap colour film.
Of course, you will do La Sagrada Familia. "Bon viatge", as they say in Catalunya.

I would get some color film, In my Leica's and Nikon I've used Fuji color film their film
just pops!, and I would still take some B&W for those special shots. Enjoy your trip!

P.S. See if you can get it in 36 exposures, in a Leica when you get on a roll taking pictures 24 goes to fast and
you have to reload again.

THANKS okay I'll do what you say
River Dog, yeah I was thinking of getting a roll of Ektar actually! ...to late now!! Sorry when I say cheap colour film, I meant either Fuji Superia or Kodak Gold actually...not the odd colour unbranded/unknown film.
But I'll see if I come across any in Barcelona.
MartinP thanks for the link, will check it out.
My better shots are on black and white anyway to be honest. I seem to get better compositions with it compared to colour. Whatever is on the digital is going to be "holiday snaps" in the end : )

Here in the states it's hard to get the better film around the corner, you have to go to
the big houses or mail order, Fuji and Kodak gold you can pretty much get it everywhere,
but better stuff you have to search a little harder.

If I come across any in Barcelona I will purchase a roll. Unfortunately it is impossible at this hour...I have to agree with this as well, a few rolls of Ektar 100 would be a wise investment, at the worst you would just bring it home.![]()

Shoot like it was monochrome and you'll be surprised. A random Ektar/Barcelona shot from Flickr.

My bf told me to bring another camera for colour; I wanted to bring my Olympus OM to use with colour film but in the end I said don't be silly! I'm not going to carry so many cameras!

My last trip I brought the M6, 21/50 (for B/W), and the olympus E-P3 w/ 17 (and m-mount adapter) for color and happy snaps. Worked fine, not too bulky, could fit it all (and film) and a flash in my domke w/ room to spare.
(I also took along a 6x9 view camera, tripod, polaroid back, 2 roll film backs and b/w and e-6 film. But that was me being crazy and just a tad over-ambitious.

If the weather is good, the light in Barcelona is just not that of London, so it's worth a roll. We in Britain live for 8-9 months a year in monochrome and almost forget what colour is.
