What size enlarger lens for 6x9?

Now that I have a medalist 6x9 I am curious what enlarger lens I should get? or will my 80mm work that I use for 6x6?

80mm won't cover 6x9. You need a 100mm lens. Make sure your enlarger will take that film size too.

I'm very partial to the Rodenstock Rodagon 105mm f/5.6. Nice lens for a good price. I *sometimes* use a Nikkor 80mm f/5.6 but only when I'm super lazy.

my 80 is a schneider componon, i thought they were the best. Is there a 105 Ektar that would fit my beseler 23CII?

Normal focal length lenses for 6X9 range from 90 to 105. Would assume same range for enlargers.

75 would be for 6X6.

The 80 should work. Try it!

I use a 90; Leica I think went for 95; and the classic choice is a 105.

There used to be an 85mm "wide angle" lens on one of the enlargers that we used at a studio I worked in. I can't remember the make, though. I'd never heard of such things before, so I made a few 6x4 prints of the corners from some 6x9 exposed in a Sinar back using, if I remember correctly, a Xenar 150mm. The corners were pretty sharp.

Who says "pixel peeping" is a new thing? 😀

I have a 4 inch (100mm) ƒ4.5 Enlarging Ektar lens from 1947 that I bought a few years ago. The lens mount is not the standard 39mm Leica thread, so you need to make sure you find one with its mounting ring included. Since the Beseler 23C uses lensboards, you can buy a blank board and have it drilled to the correct size.

The Enlarging Ektars are very good lenses and usually don't cost very much when you find one.

I've used for 6x9 nikkor 105 or rodagon 120wa (for 4x5 or less); all depends from the coverage of the lens. If you have yet an 80, you can try and if it doesn't vignette, who cares?
You are fortunate having a medalist! I love 6x9 and I'm searching a weltur. Before or later...

Trial and error is one way to determine what works well, no doubt. According to my ancient Burleigh Brooks Schneider catalog, the 80mm f5.6 Componon is an 85 degree lens and covers 2 1/4"x2 1/4". The 105mm f5.6 Componon is a 110 degree lens and covers 2 1/4" x 3 1/4". The 135mm f5.6 Componon is a 150 degree lens and covers 4x5". Sometimes longer than normal focal lengths can yield better results in actual use. Whatever works for you.
