What sort of people use film?

Done.

What sort of people shoot film? Only the nicest people.

Reminds me of the "You meet the nicest people on a Honda" ads from the 1960's. I guess I'm dating myself.

Best,
-Tim

What sort of people shoot film?

the word Stubborn comes to mind ...

That's one way to look at it.
But what if someone just doesn't like the way digital looks, or just loves the film process including using ancient out dated equipment like Nikon F6s, Leica M7s etc?

🙂

p.s done!

Good survey, but you needed an option for shooting instant film.
Thank you, ill add that now.

And please keep us posted on the project, I'd be interested in knowing what you come up with.

Out of intrest beyond the results of this survey would anyone be intrested in a thread where I talk about progressing the project and the different aspects of graphic design im going to have to learn etc? Just an idea

Those people dont exist! just send me those cameras and ill dispose of them for you!😛

You forgot the question, Why do you shoot film?

There will be many different reasons. For me it is because the cameras I like take film.

Born and raised on film.
I just like all aspects of using film.
And I like old mechanical cameras chock full of their innate charm.

{Yeah, I also do Digital, but it's not the same feeling for me as film. Just another form of photography.}

I submitted my responses.

I hope Adox makes Silvermax. That's one I had to write in for film manufacturers.

I just realized that because I'm the kind of person who shoots both film and digital, I'm a fickle person without loyalties. How awful! 😱

I just submitted mine. Good luck with your project, Jake.

I've just always shot film and, like Zuiko85 said, I like the straightforward simplicity of old manual cameras, especially TLRs. I also like the tangibility of film.

I figure that I'll add digital at some point, as it definitely has some positive things going for it, but I just don't feel the need to yet.

I started film because I wanted to be forced to think about what I was doing and learn to be a better photographer. I still shoot digital but don't enjoy it nearly as much.

I started shooting film (again) exactly one week after I bought an excellent Leica Monochrom 246 together with a Summilux 1.4/50. I had waited so long for this camera! I saved every penny! I still consider it perfect - I produces visual wonders by pressing the shutter.

But I obviously am not interested in "the sharper and the more sensor the better". I found an old rugged Leica M3 and fell in love instantly: The old glass, the sound of the shutter, inserting film again, no electricity at all. It was like I became a little boy again. The quality of the photos isn't better or worse - it is different and distinct.

Shooting film does include me in the process of making photos much more than digital filming. I still feel a little sorry for the Monochrom that really still doing best, but photography for me is about emotions. And that means film to me.
