The boys from customs would worry me there unless it was sent as a gift or under valued.

If you are in the US there should be no custom tax for camera bodies...or was it for camera lens? There aren't many items that carry an import tax from Hong Kong.
I've brought plenty of Leica and Zeiss equipment from Hong Kong, shipped to the US. Always use DHL and has never been taxed.

In Oz we're fine up to $1000.00 AUD ... above that you're liable for GST of ten percent ... not to mention the paperwork! 🙄

Try the digital Hassy... that's some chunk of cash for a kit. I don't think there are people who buy them (not even pros); the manufacturer probably has a lease program.

I bought my D700 this way ... it came direct from Hong Kong marked as a gift but not all sellers will do this!

I took this in Tsim Sha Tsui with a 50mm Summilux ASPH, about five minutes after I paid for it...only after three hours of excited shooting did I feel photo-happy enough to return to my apartment😱
