That trasfer block...did it look something like the Nikon in this pic:
http://tokyocamerastyle.com/post/2922240764/shinjuku-mijonjus-hilariously-heavy-nikon
Does the 35mm frame get enlarged to cover the whole polaroid (presumably with a large loss in Exposure Index for the film)?
No. The block is parallel-sided, and gives two 24x36 images (you part-pull the Polaroid sheet for the second exposure) with no speed loss. It's really an exposure test only. The one you're looking at (Speed Magny type) has a separate lens system to relay the image onto, yes, the full area of the Polaroid.
Cheers,

Thanks, Roger - very interesting. Then it's the Speed Magny type I covet!
With that info, and further googling, I've discovered a quoted 5-stop light loss in the optical path and enlargement. That seems quite reasonable to me. PB-3000B is a lovely film, and would mean an ISO 100-equivalent exposure experience with the 4lb monster attached to one's Nikon.

Global economics...
Global economics...
Price range stayed the same, if you live and get payed in Switzerland.
In fact, 18 months ago 1$ was worth 1.50CHF. Today, it is about 0.80CHF.
1€ was 1.60CHF, is now down to 1.20CHF.
So most of the gear actually got really cheap for us over here, but somehow Leica, both cameras and lenses, kept the same (high) price.
What i have noticed is that many odd lenses sell for good money.
I think it it is due to the fact that there is an adapter for everything to any DSLR and EVIL out on the market.
Now, my problem is that i have tons of gear to get rid of, but with the expensive CHF and almost no hope to sell it locally, I will end up losing a lot of money, IF i manage to sell it for $ at all!

That's just because most stores lie about the condition of their stuff. I agree with Fred about the BGN stuff deserving it, but I have bought several EX and EX+ things in the last year that looked great and did not work right. Two lenses had fungus in them, but the outside looked great! I've returned 75% of what I've bought in the last year for functional issues, all EX or better grade. I won't buy again, they're not checking this stuff like they used to. Wen I was younger, I bought stuff from them and it 'just worked', because they didn't sell broken stuff, ever. They've slipped.
I agree I've had several bad experiences, but no risk, sent them back with free shipping. I bought a beautiful ln- m6ttl from them this year, that is now my favorite camera. I just got it back from DAG who updated the viewfinder replaced the advance lever with m3 style and adjusted and lubed(for no additional charge)

The "no risk" thing works only for US based buyers.
For the others, the shipping and taxes can turn a return into a costly experience.

Not true demand outstrip supply really.
What is happening is that many hk and chinese dealers have been stocking up on leicas to play the market. This has led collectors and wannabe collectors to join the mad rush. Its all artificial and self reinforcing. Those who have joined the game will all sing the same tune (1) demand outstrip supply and (2) the premium paid for leica is worth the extra quality. If you spent a fortune on leica, the image will look better than a cheap lens, trust me.
To be honest i'm not quite so sure many people actually can see any difference between leica and other brands. I know this guy with a MP and Noctilux but he does not know how to scan his negatives properly the images do not justify the noct at all. He still revels in the image coz its a noct. Emperors new clothes.
The are also fake transactions all the time engineered to raise transacted prices. If you observe carefully you can see the monkey business. Of course all those heavily laden with leica will tell you otherwise. No no no. It all coz of demand outstripping supply....

If you cannot buy new Leica lenses at a store, demand is outstripping supply. It's reality.

The situation is not Leica specific. A couple of years back the secondhand market was flooded with film gear as people abandoned film cameras for digital and camera stores closed due to internet competition and released stock. The market was flooded at the same time as demand was low. There were major bargains to be had. Now not only are more people buying film gear but also (and perhaps more pertinently) buying lenses for digital (be it M digital or adapted lenses for other digital cameras) and the market is recovering after a slump.

Now please proof, that your photographs are worth the
please …M9 | M3 SS | M4 BP | Zeiss Ikon | Ricoh GXR | Lux 50 ASPH | Lux 50 pre-ASPH Titanium | Lux 35 pre-ASPH | Cron 50 | Cron 35 7 Element | Cron 35 6 Element | Zeiss 50 Sonnar 1.5 | Zeiss Biogon 35 F2 | Zeiss 21 Biogon F2.8 |
I genuinely don't like the attitude, somebody has to be one of the great photographers, to own and use nice gear!
It speaks of stereotype thinking and jealousy. I don't like that - let's hope, I am wrong regarding your motives.

I don't care what you do not like. I said i know someone who enjoys a noctilux despite his scanning not showing noctilux results.
I did not say you must be a great photographer to have great gear. Those are your words.

If a few big shops can buy all the supply to speculate on the prices, that means that there is not enough supply in the first place.

I've been in Murphy's Camera in Louisville. They have a neat collection of antique cameras on display (not for sale) and their prices for used gear were not bad (though for new they were very high!).

Isn't it against policy for retailers to sell new products above list?

Against whose policy? In the USA, retailers can charge what they want. Price fixing by manufacturers is generally illegal here.
I don't remember Murphy's charging above list for stuff back then, its just that no one charges list and they charged exactly list....so more than most places.

Kristian, that exact thing helped me, to buy an used M8.2 back then, instead of heading for a new M9 in the end of 2009 in Shanghai.
New M9 bodies were sold at that time for something between 6.500 − 7.000 EUR.
List price has been exactly the same as in Germany - 5.500 EUR.
I never help greedy, over the top dealers, and still Today, I do not buy anything from these shops, that offered me those M9 prices back then - not even a lens cap.
It is just wrong, what some dealers try to do - there is no ethics in Chinese business.
