What to choose? Original Black paint M4 or a MP finder chrome M7?

Maddoc Sorry to hear yours is down, hope it'll come back fixed forever! I plan on traveling several month in asia in the running year so I really fear the failed camera. I shouldn't but it is just me. The M4 is a best bet for a satifying experience, I'll go with that. I'll hunt for a gossen digisix so I can replace that old seikonic which is solid but heavy.

I would go for the black paint M4. I've had two M7s. I always sell them because I don't like the way the shutter feels. It's too notchy, not smooth. Makes me feel like I'm jerking the camera at the moment of release. I think you should get the M4. An M7, you can always get, when you get around to it.

I wont get emotional about a camera but I'll say I love my M7 (.58 mag). No handheld metering for one and the AE puts it over the top.

Thanks for all the imputs, I will see the nice photographer who sells it friday night, he'll bring some vietnamese pictures from his upcoming book along with the leicas and I'll choose. I already told him I was set on the M4, I hope all will go well though.

I first bought a IIIa sold it, then bought a button M2, then sold it to get a M3 (love or hate the vintage round frame?!), then sold it for the M4 and bang, it feels just right for me! Trying leicas is not hard you sell them approximately the same price you bought them (vintage must be!)

I just don't like when the chrome M4 gets attention (it does actually). The BP will be safe with me, at least better than within a safe.

I actually went through the same last week but over an anniversary black chrome M4 vs .85x M7 and I went with the M7. With the 1.25x on the .85x M7 I could just see the 50mm framelines. This is Noctilux heaven.

That's funny because the photographer also sells a black chrome 50 anniversary with M3 finder. He said "it's the only 50y anniversary that's been modified with M3 finder in the world" modified by his tech! Sacrilege some would scream he just loved it with his cron.

the BP M4 is mine now! I'll post the first roll if you like.
Cheers!
