What to do about a scratch?

Glass can be polished, coating can be reapplied but I think that unless you are a highly specialized guy in this field whatever you do is likely to deteriorate the coating much more than it will repair the scratch. I would leave the lens alone, shot it, probably you won't notice anything wrong and nobody else looking at your pictures will either.

I agree - you should try a few shots first, with different lighting conditions and see if the results are affected.

I have an Olympus Zuiko 28mm f2.0 that has a few micro scratches on the front element. It does flare easily with a greenish spot/tinge. Haven't tried this yet but I reckon a 3rd party generic hood would most likely solve the problem.
