Please accept my apology that my poll doesn't fit your life. Again, polls of this nature are impossible to make to please everyone.
450 views and only 60 votes? Seems like it doesn't fit most people's lives.

I'm not really a photographer but I pretend to be one on the internet forums.

I'm probably responsible for more than 20 of those views because of entertainment value and I only voted once. If everybody who posted on this thread was as obsessive as me, or had a boring day job, perhaps there should be over 1200 views.
I'm kinda scattered and mucho interdiciplinary so I probably could of checked off a few.

Most threads are lucky to get 5-8% responses/views. In fact, far less than 5%. Time to chill, I like this poll.

Well, I have done all kind of photography. Worked as a professional for a few years and live in a small country so you cant really set for just one type of photography.
I shot and sold
Studio - Commercial / Product / Ad
Photojournalist / News
Personal
Family / Friends / Pets
Wedding / Event / Party
Landscape
Fashion
Today I look at myself as a documentary photographer documenting everything I can using an old Olympus OM2 and LOMO cameras.

I am pleasantly surprised to see 'Personal' as an option.
<----- Because that's exactly how I see myself (look to the left of this line a bit).
Personal to me does not mean that my work is not presentable or publishable, it's just come out from my personal view of the world and life in general.
I cannot do any other type of photography in which I try to capture something for someone else's vision.
I'd make a lousy Wedding Photographer for instance.
In a parallel dimension where I don't have a family and I live in a place where people walk everywhere, I'd be a street photographer.

I voted photojournalist/news, which is the bulk of my work, but I enjoy shooting concerts the most. I wasn't sure where concert photography would fit. Personal or wedding/event/party? I guess I would have went with other if I didn't settle and vote for photojournalist.

Exactly... while I make photos that are in many of the categories above, I feel exactly like the part I bolded in your quote. That is why I chose personal and included it. I'm happy to see like minded people here.
There is no right or wrong way to photograph or right or wrong subject. If you like testing lenses only, that's fine IMO (by the way, where are the lens testers?). If it is only a job to you, then that's cool too. I thought vacation was a good category since I see so many threads about what to take on vacation gear wise.

hmmm..... i guess i should vote "Landscape", but really i'm more into general Nature Photography and only shoot landscapes a fraction of the time. i could also vote "Personal" as i do take photos of whatever interests me.

I'm one of the two 'commercial' guys, but also do photojournalism, personal, street, vacation, family, friends, pets, and I could also a be a camera tester (particularly those Exaktas with pinholed shutters!).
Guess there couldn't be an option for 'Everything'???

That would have been a great idea.

I choose "Other" because to me most of the choices reflected what kind of pictures a person takes rather then what kind of photographer they are.
In the simplest terms I believe there are two basic types of photographer and/or artist
1. Creators: To me these are people who have a firm idea of the image(s) the want and go out and find it or create it from scratch in many cases.
2 Observers, I'm one of these, Need to have some kind of visual stimulation This can be something as simple as a pattern of shadows on a wall. A model, picking up something that you never ever thought of using as a props but the second you see it in her hand the ideas just start coming. Or just about anything that make you stop and say I need to take a picture of that or if you're in the middle of a shoot instantly forget about what you intended to shoot in favor something completely different.
