What will you do when Tri-x is dead?

In the light of the new Mono Leica and the response from many, what will the film die hards do when their fave medium finally bites the dust?

I went digital when Kodak dropped Kodachrome 25 & 64, and when you had to pay £20 for a roll of film and dev/print, with film you didn't really like.

I really hope film never disappears, as I'm keen on returning to it, but it's when your favorite film goes that it gets scary. I'm sure there will be film for many years, it's just not always going to be what you want.
I wonder what Sebastião Salgado will do?

What will you do?
 
It will just help noone if you keep speculating if film stays alive. Just buy it, that's film photographys only chance. And the pictures you take now, can't be taken away from you. Tri-X can be replaced by HP5, in my opinion. But pleasepleaseplease stop proclaiming film is going to die, because if we repeat it often enough, it'll really die. No new shooters will go with film, if the ones still using film are depressive and always tell, that film photography will be gone soon.

I'm sorry, but I'm so annoyed...
 
Use hp5+... or XP2 ... or Adox 400... or delta 400... or use a different ISO.

There will always be at least one film out there (at least in my lifetime).

Didn't mean to make anyone unhappy or angry!
People thought vinyl was about to go when CDs got big, and it's just increased sales here for the first time in years - if there's a demand there's a market etc. Kodak and Ilford would be mad to cease film production, why would they when the market here & the rest of the world is active?
One of my points is still quite valid, when your favorite film goes what do you do? I know you can buy your next favorite, but the lack of choice is limiting for some. I loved Agfa Scala, there's nothing replacing that - as yet. Nothing digital will come close to it - impossible!
If your fave film(s) went would you ever go digital - what would it take?

Now you got me wrong and I didn't want that. Maybe I missinterpreted your post a little. I didn't want to offense you, but what i wrote is going on for a while now and this makes me angry...

I would take the next favourited film ;), yes.
For you're Scala, what do you miss? The special look of Scala, or black and white positives in general? Because then you could just use e.g. Agfa Copex Rapid and develop it in the Scala-process. I don't know, where you exactly live, but there are possibilities ;).
 
Well, as long as there is just ONE quality film left standing, then I'll be using it.

True, the choices available are forever dwinding. But - just how much choice do you get with digital? If you want RF, then just one (or two now). As for non-RF, they are all much of a muchness really.

I was lucky with Scala, it requires a special processing lab and there was one near me in London. Like many labs here - it closed.
I loved the tonal quality and deep blacks, I could do B&W with no darkroom and still scan a few of the better images. I used it with a Pentax 6x7 too - so that was easier to scan. It was I admit a lazy short cut to a bit of B&W photography. I was tempted to get a darkroom sorted and go that whole dev & print at home route. I still could, but like many it is easier and realistic (time wise) to go digital and since I use computers for my work I have to keep up with that print technology.
Silverprint in London have a few interesting products that I think may be able to replicate B&W transparencies - I'll look into it.

We have a lot of film choice right now, so why we should think or talk about the END of all the film in the world almost every week?
However i think Tri-X it's like a symbol for Kodak so i suppose they will continue to produce it for a long time...they still produce Eastman Double-X and i think none in the world is shooting black and white movies with that emulsion...so...
Let's go outside and use it...the day it will be over we will use the stocks in our fridge and then we will start to talk about "The Good times when there was the Tri-X" but until then, long live to the Tri-X!!!
 
Not sure where you can buy Copex Rapid here, could buy from EU easy enough.
Have you seen Fomapan - they do a reversal kit. Thanks for the link.

Then again, sex is always better--and becomes something more than 'sex'--when it is part of opening communication channels of all sorts!

Back to film, I'm happy with film stock for the cinema industry.
