what year is your m3 from?

Mine is a vintage 1957. But my collapsible 'cron is a 1955! :)

Funny to go around using equipment slightly older than myself...

1962. DAG'ed in 2002. It's about the youngest camera I own. It puts everything in perspective, knowing that I was conceived on an evening (just a guess) after VE day and before VJ probably in celebration of the prospect of peace. Go Boomers.

that's what i want a lens made the same year as the camera, 1955.

My IIIa is from 1938, the IIIf is from 1955, and the M3 is from 1965. I pre-date all of them, and wish I was in as good shape as the oldest. They are remarkable pieces of equipment. My Contaxes span much of its existence, dating from 1936 to 1955. The oldest has a bad shutter, so I've got that one beat, as my shutter is still functional, just a tad slow...

The 'Cron that I used to keep on that M3 is from '54, which I thought was close enough. I tried to get one from '55, but I needed a lens.

1955....I was negative 3.
My father paid $500 for it new with a F1.5 Summarit, and to this day my mom still gives it dirty looks. They bought their first house that year as well...for $1100 ( that's for the whole house, not a mortgage payment).....can you imagine struggling to meet your monthly mortgage payment of $33, plus your taxes of $9? :D

Mine's from 1963. Now I'm waiting to see the M b'day shot-complete with hat, cake and candles!

That a fantastic effort, Harry, you must be taking very good care of your equipment! ;)

Mine is still the kid of the bunch. I have my rigid Summicron now more or less permanently in place with the IROOA on it. I am just going to get a slip on cap to go over the end of the hood, 57mm I think, and I will be set.

My M3 was from the batch in June 1959. Serial number 964XXX. I was 3 years old when this beautiful camera was made. Was recently DAG'ed in April 2003, so I should be good for another 20 to 30 years. Thanks Don Goldberg!!

1963 - 14 Years before my birth (I have a Zorki4+ J8 from 1977 :D ) ...the M3 is getting her new leather from Aki this week! oh joy

M3 #863xxx, dating it to February-March 1957, so about 18 months older than I. It was converted to single stroke in 1978. Next is to get it re-covered by CameraLeather.
