An answer and a question:

A: A chrome MP and a Summicron DR 50.

Q: Does Santa read the forums?

Fifteen minutes ago, I was hoping beyond hope my worn-to-the-nubs Mets would somehow take it. Didn't happen. I'll live, and so will they. :)

('Course, we all know the Tigers are taking it all...)

"the only good punk was so' cal in the 80's"!!!!!
are you crazy? how about the refused (scandinavian) in the 90's! pick up a album called "the shape of punk to come"
avail (the pacific norhtwest) still currently touring...
rites of spring (washington dc/80's)
i could go on for hours. punk is still rockin peoples pant's off all over the place.
cro mags (ny city)
bad brains (ny city)

farenheit 451...
punk is born and raised in basements and garages all around you!!! it never went away. it just got better!

as for right now? how bout a noctilux?
mmmmm noctilux....

I've got it all... a repaired IIIf, FED 50/3.5 and a China doll with succulent toes... well, at least for the moment.

Speaking about CBGB's... Von Lmo still played there on occasion with James Chance. The best Punk band I've ever seen (heard) at CB's was The Boyfriends... BAR NONE ! During their set I threw ashtrays at them. Afterwards... they beat me up on the Bowery during a Suicide set.

Ouch, I care to disagree!

Good riddance to CBGB though. As much as it did for us in the 70s and 80s, it's been mostly garbage for years now.

Plus, I'm sure you can still get the shirts from American Eagle & Urban Outfitters.

Just curious, which part do you disagree with? The no good bands in NY (I lied, Latterman from Long Island, NY is one of the best bands out there right now) or the Gainesville/Berkeley part?

I love punk and its many variant genres, no matter where the bands are from. What are some of your favorite bands?

You win for best post ever! Avail is definitely one of my favorite bands. Them and Hot Water Music (Gainesville, Fl) play some of the most powerful music I've ever heard.

avail

avail

an album called "...over the river james" or something like that. man, avail... they gotz the punk coursing through their veins! and they aint from so cal!
seriously though... there's some mean ass punks out there who'd kick anyone's ass who said the only good punk was so cal in the 80's...
i'd fancy a 75mm summilux as well.

true punk ended when the pistols started playing the U.S. - Punk became a fashion statement and people "kicked people's asses" to be "punk" - true punk was about being what society considered a failure and making music that rebelled agaist flower power and perfect harmony. listen to television, new york dolls, the heartbreakers, dead boys i.e new york bands. read please kill me by the people who first used the word...
of course there's good stuff that came later, but never the same
cheers!

oh i wouldn't mind an mp, they're pretty nice

true punk...

true punk...

true punk only started with the sex pistols... it rolls on till this very day. some of you all might have stopped listening and curled up with an old new york dolls or stooges album to cry your way through middle age but you are irelevant and the punk rolls on. leatherface, guns and wankers, HOT WATER MUSIC, the refused, descendants, snuff, social d, at the drive in, and so on.
the guys/gals who spend all day bombin' the empty pool in th eneighbours back yard are infinately more punk than the drunk dude with the "hawk" passed out in front of the liquor store.
in the words of the mighty jawbreaker (pretty punk themselves) 1,2,3,4 who's punk what's the score.

so uh, who's mailing me the noctilux and summilux? where do i enter this contest?

I hate So Cal, and I hate 99% of the music it produces!

As far as I can tell, punk is about not being able to play your instruments, and for some reason, being proud of that.

Give me real rock and roll any day.

As for what I want for Christmas, right now my (fantasy) wish list includes a Noctilux and an LX-2/DLux-3.
