I can absolutely understand and agree when people wear a hat, a yarmulke or kepi indoors, because of religious motives.

Few weeks ago I had a beer with a couple of friend at the "Brussels Beer Project" in ... well, Brussels, actually I took this photo there:
From my table I could see 3 guys sitting at different tables wearing that kind of hat.
Out of the 3 guys, one had an Ilford disposable film camera and another one a cheap 80s zoom point and shoot camera that even my mother would be ashamed to carry around...
so my understanding of an hipster is "young people carrying cheap film cameras and possibly sporting a beard".

I'm 60 years old; I have a ponytail; I have an arrogant chin beard; I have a skinny youthful body that allows me to wear tight jeans; for decades I have shot old retro film cameras; I enjoy single ended triode hi-fi; I use to race bicycles (both road and mountain bike); back in 1973 I pierced my left ear, but I no longer wear an earing; the sides of my hairline are buzzed and this is not due to trend because my shaving "accidents" have been ongoing for decades; I always have had a kinda sloppy urban style/dress code that is kinda practical; but really I'm not hip at all because the things I do for me never went out of style.
In my case my style is not forced, but the term hipster certainly is derogitory because it suggests a formula of style. I find it interesting that young people today want to be like me or emulate me and my behavior. Certain things are cool and have never gone out of style.
What I find not cool are those guys wearing "Holister" apparel that obviously who are not surfers, especially the old guys who are out of shape, and who are no longer youthful. BTW I have gotten mistaken as a surfer by surfers: no Holister t-Shirt required. Likely due my cycling lifestyle and attitude.
In a way being called a hipster is like being called a poser. Then again the term hipster can also be a compliment for someone youthful. Good style in fact is timeless.

Well, exactly you -- living in Germany -- should very well know that quite a lot of those *hipster doodz* are in fact *nipsters*, aren't they?
Anyways, it *is* a difference whether weaing a headware indoors is part of an ancient religion's customs, or some ephemeral trash fashionistas' fashion.

I asked for an explanation, not for the repeated opinion, that there is a difference between expression of ones religion and a persons fashion style. I asked for an explanation why flogging you don´t agree with is correct.

The definition is of an individual, usually a white college age male yuppie type, w/ no original ideas of anything in their head. They need social media to tell them what to wear (you will see they pretty much all have uniforms and haircuts that resemble their brethren), what to say, how to say it, and what to believe. Their usual habitat is a StarSucks coffeehouse where they are all attached to their phones, furiously sending vital messages to each other (often others that are seated at the same table) by Facebook and Instagram. The best thing you can do if you encounter one is call a hippie to have a hipster/hippie conversation w/ them in the hope they will bring them over to the hippie side (see definition of Luddite) so they can all have hippie clothes, ideas, and slogans, and listen to the same music. Peace. Love is the way.

That is basically OT trolling. I also don’t get how religious reasons of wearing some stuff is different from fashion. It’s just a different religion.
