What's this lens worth?

$250-375

Thanks Gary!

I would base the asking price on the condition of the lens, Frank.
The Canon RF lenses have been getting costlier to buy the past two years.

For a quick sale: $250
For a 3 day sale: $275
For a 5 day sale: $300
For a two week sale: $350

.... just my guesses. :D

I'm waiting for this lens, a late last night eBay buy, with a Canon lVsb.
I'm thinking that it could replace my Summaron.
35mm is not my fav focal length, so I could free up some capital investment.

it's one of my favourite lenses...typical of it's time, high res, low contrast.

if i had stayed with the vintage lens set that i had i would still be using it.

Frank,
I tried to sell one of these (in excellent condition) here a couple of months ago. I can't remember the price I was asking and can't find the ad now (probably $300 or so?). Had a couple of inquiries, but it didn't sell.

You would be far better off with the Canon 35mm f2 rangefinder lens.

Not much more expensive, faster, a far better lens, and more likely to appreciate. Probably better than the Summaron too.

Keep your eye out for a reasonable f2, then sell the f2.8 lens.

The 35 f2 prices have skyrocketed. I haven't seen one for less then $500-600 recently. Maybe a few in poor condition for $450.

I have a 2.8 - if I could cheaply jump to the 2 I would but I'm fairly content with this lens as my 35mm for now given the price difference.

All LTM and M-Leica mount lenses are being driven up to insane levels because of the run up in new Leica lens prices.

It's a combination of the effect of M9 sales, the shortage of new lenses, many new users entering the market, and the feverish demand from Asia.

I have seen Chinese buyers pay almost any asking price for the new ASPH lenses.

Having said that, with careful shopping, there are still bargains to be found in older Canon and other rangefinder lenses. You have to have a good ability to search outside the normal venues or be able to spot lenses on eBay that are not listed correctly, with other cameras, etc.

saw that one. didn't bid. looks like a good deal if both in good condition.

Thanks for not bidding up the price! :)

Yeah, I've got my fingers crossed.

The only way to win consistently is to snipe at the last possible moment. Incremental bidding is just bidding against yourself and not logical.

I hope you realize that by calling attention to the auction here, you probably will cause the final price to be 20% to 50% higher than it would have been had you not posted the auction number.

You meant my post? No problem I can remove the auction#.
