Whats your biggest rangefinder related regret, a camera you sold, a picture/image missed, a camera you should have bought. I'll start, should never have swapped my Leica CL 40/2 and should never have sold my Pentax LX.
 
There was a Chrome M5 on Ebay that had just been seviced and upgraded by Sherry. Everything that could have been done was; MP finder, battery mod, CLA... In total over a $900.00 bill that came with the M5.

The camera ended up selling for around $1100.00. I wish I was the one who snagged it.

My biggest regret is selling off a perfectly fine D300 with brilliant lenses to get an M8. :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:
 
I was at a camera store when an older couple came in. They were picking up a camera bag for a digital camera they used to take pictures of their grandchildren. While they were there, they were going to ask about the value of a bunch of old gear they had. Their plan was to sell it to the store. They figured it wasn't worth much and were a bit surprised I was interested.

Turned out it was a pair of Leicas and about a dozen lenses. Turns out they were really into photography long ago but had gone digital when their photograph shifted to mostly shooting family, where sharing pictures with others instantly was more compelling.

When I sudden got even more interested in the conversation, they offered to sell it to me instead. They still had no idea what the value was. I have a feeling I could have offered 1/10th of street value and walked away with everything.

I couldn't bring myself to do it to them. I expect the store paid a bit more than my opening offer would have been, but still... buying that kit at even that price would have been great given the profit margin the stores need to make selling used worth while.

I can't say I regret what I did but it still hurts to reflect on it.

loads of photographs I missed...

oh and I once saw a 1.2/50 noctilux for ~800€... at the time, I just had no idea how much it's really worth! :bang::bang::bang:
 
After I got my dream kit - M6 + 35mm Summicron I should have stopped right there and not spent any more on anything else.
 
The only regret I have is that I can't bring myself to spend $7000 on an M9... when I wish I would just do it and get it over with.
 
When I owned a Leica III f, I had some great Canon lenses (135/3.5, 50/1.2) that I sold when I gave up the Leica. I recently bought a Canon 7 and which I still have those.
 
Not believing the guy who said he would beat the sh*t out of me if I photographed his girlfriend. Broken nose, 18 stitches over my eye and a smashed M8 that was deemed not economically repairable resulted.

Actually none of the above is true but since I cannot think of one regret, what the hell....

Relax. The first photo you take with your new $7,000 costs you $7,000. But the second one only costs you $3,500 per photo, then 7000/3, etc. until pretty soon you've got it down to 7000/100 or just $ 70. This is how my wife justifies buying clothes, though she usually starts at under $ 200.00.

Image wise, I took a set of images in the early 1980's, a local/international dispute broke out within the fishing community, an international row broke out, cut a long story short I grabbed some images of an international fishing skipper under arrest being frog marched ashore by Royal Marines and police, from a Royal naval fishery protection vessel to an awaiting police van. I was the only person arround with a camera, I got some great shots, afterwards a man came up and said I'll buy the film off you, (£100), I snapped up the offer, I was £100 better off. The next day he had claimed the images as his own and sold them to the national newspapers
 
Badly underexposing most of the shots at a kids birthday party, and chopping off endless feet and hands/ background bits by trying to be too "pure retro" for my own good. Now I have a body with a built in meter and a finder I can see through properly, but William will never be 4 again.
 
Not having enough money to afford TWO M9s.

Not really having enough money to buy one.

Buyng M3s when I was younger. M2s are much more useful to me.
