Whats your biggest rangefinder related regret

Oh I nearly forgot, my biggest regret, (although not a rangefinder), I sold the first serious, (ish) camera I ever owned, a Pentax MV. I should not have sold it, it was bought for me by my parents who must have struggled to buy it for me, (xmas 1981), they were and still are not rich. I should have kept it

I see where you are comming from, regretting everything you have ever sold, the more I think about it the more I agree with you. Incidently, I now realise, on reflection, I should not have let the Canon P go as well. Too many regrets

Gear side: DS-SS converted M3 I ounce had. Buttery smooth, dead quiet shooter. I still regret selling it.

Photo side: Every time I leave house without an RF camera. I always see things just too good to pass up when I don't have the camera.

Being unaware of rangefinders 15 years ago when I wanted something smaller than the SLR, and going to an Olympus Stylus film camera for its "compactness" when I could have shot an M. :bang:

Next regret was moving from the film olympus to Canon Powershot G1 and spending 10+ years in the compact digital ratrace.

Funny it took a dSLR to bring me back to quality, but the lingering desire for smaller size kit with good quality finally led me here to RFf. :angel:

I regret getting suckered into the "filter package" with first slr, but that's minor in comparison to losing 15 years of meaningful photography.

I regret not buying an M6 back in '84 while serving in the Navy. Not sure if it was with or without a lens, but for around $900 I think.
It showed up in their 'dream' catalog (when everything was still less expensive for service members.)

Instead I purchased a Canon F1n with the heavy motor drive, which I've since sold (regret that too).

Buying the 50mm Summilux E43.

It's not bad at all but I had no idea what the differences were. If I had known I would have held out for the E46 version with the closer focusing.

Also falling hard for the Zeiss 25mm Biogon. It makes me want to get other Zeiss lenses. But the build quality on all of them is crap. They all wobble and feel like they're going to fall apart some day. Even my Biogon has a squeak sometimes when focusing. But it's the sharpest lens I've ever seen.

Buying my first Zeiss lens. It's hard to stop at one and having graduated to ZF (nikon F mount) lenses as well as M mount I suddenly need a decent Nikon film body to shoot the ZF lenses ... meanwhile I have a cupboard full of OM gear that seems to be sitting idle because suddenly I'm not that impressed with Zuiko lenses any more!

Not really RF related, but I do regret giving up on cameras umpteen years ago. After that, I spent time in some remarkable places. Knowing the photo opportunities I missed pains me.

i don't regret anything i have bought as i learned something from most every peice of gear that i have had.
i don't regret selling gear that did not work for me or that just felt like it didn't feel right for me.

i do regret having to sell my 50/1.1 nokton (because i needed the cash) as that lens felt like we could do some great stuff together.
