But 'wog' is an old racist term, referring to a Wily Oriental Gentleman.
Sailors use 'wog derived from pollyWOG, an immature fish, and in the case of mariners, a creature low enough that it is not worthy to cross the equator.
E_WOK: I crossed the line close to Diego Garcia on my first deployment. On our way home we crossed the equator at the dateline but didn't do the ceremony since we were conducting a 3 day offload/unrep.
I *almost* got to do my Bluenose but time and orders just didn't work out. Ahh, those were the days. i love being underway.

Years ago I knew an ABC camera man (movie film then) who told me he wished he'd had a nickel for every flash he'd seen go off at ball games he covered!
i would settle for a penny per flash!

I'm with Bob on this issue. I don't care how much money a software company earns; using pirated software is theft, no better than those who steal our images off the Internet.Bob338, the list of people who admitted to using pirated Adobe software was right here on RFF. They volunteered their names. I just cut and pasted it.
But, those who use pirated Adobe software certainly do impact me because I am paying their share of Adobe product development costs. I pay somewhere around a 33% to 50% premium for the share of those who do not. Last night I paid $76 for a Lightroom upgrade. I could not help but think that about $50 of that for for my share and the rest was the share of someone else who bootlegged it.

Old guys with Leicas walking around looking for subjects with serious looks on their faces. ten extra pet peeve points if they have a ponytail or are wearing a beret.
Any exemptions for young guys? I promise I have neither a ponytail or a beret

My pet peeve - the fact that the incident-metering sphere on a Sekonic TwinMate fills up with pocket lint in under a year, and that there's no easy way to get the damned thing off for cleaning.

I was just a dumb jarhead. On my first deployment, we had just left the Gulf on our way to Hong Kong when the Brits still ran the place. Not 3 hours after leaving the Gulf, Saddam decides to go out and play so we get turned around and spend more time there.
Hong Kong had to wait a few years.
This also caused us to not have time to cross the equator.
Getting a Bluenose has got to be pretty rare.

The coasties get their Bluenose all the time. A few of the guys I worked with were in a different mobile detachment and always went out independent duty to the Bering Sea or farther north on ice breakers with the coast guard. Bluenose looked like hell on an ice breaker to me.
On my first deployment, we raced to the Gulf from Norfolk instead of doing a Med cruise (Norfolk to San Diego for a homeport change) because of Saddam being an idiot and had the distinct pleasure of spending over 100 days straight doing racetracks for continuous flight ops night and day. Good times!

Most of the time, instagram doesn't bother me, but when people add a "film border" to some crappy digital shot, it drives me up the wall. I can't even describe how annoying I find it!
