Taken using Portra 400 and my G2 w/ 45/2. what in the world is the multi-colored line running across the bottom part of the pic, but only some pics. This day was HARD sun. In no other pictures taken that day or since, have I seen this phenomenon, nor have I been on the water FWIW.

Is the film scratched? If so, look for a burr on the edge of the pressure plate or some other sharp edge in the film transport mechanism.

Those look like digital artifacts... did you scan these yourself? If so where any ICE features enabled during the scan?

No, I had them scanned by www.thedarkroom.com, their standard output scan. The fact that the coloration is not consistent across the pictures, even where it is present, suggests that it has something to do with the processing and not my G2.
thanks guys, for your feedback, tony

just scanned the boat picture using my V500 and no sign anywhere of the multi-colored line. Looks like Darkroom got some sort of scanning artifact. I'm gonna post to them the pic I got from them and see what they have to say.
thanks again, guys,

The lab I use has trouble sometimes with their scanners putting lines in the scans, and they don't bother to rescan them unless you complain. Theuy don't want to spend the time to get it right before it heads out the door, and I don't usually notice it until I get home and pop the CD in the drive because I don't get prints. Its agravating to say the least when the labs take cost cutting over customer sevice. In your case, it could be they just put the film in the scanner, and then load up the next machine while your film is running in the first one.

I got an email back yesterday PM from DarkRoom who offered w/o cost to rescan the negatives on which the lines showed up. They apologized as well and said that it was very likely that there was some dust on their scanner that caused it to happen. Since the photos were not critical at all, just testing out my G2 before going to Paris in a couple months, I thanked them for their offer but I declined. Next batch I will ask them to ensure that the scanner is clear of such dust before scanning. Good company it seems. I'll give them some repeat business.

Good to hear they offered to make things right. I bookmarked their site, as I might want to do some 110 stuff later on.
