I suspect that a lot of us are spending a little more time on the web than we did pre-pandemic. The volume of photographic websites and videos makes it difficult to hunt though the chaff to find the wheat. Fortunately, there are enough folks on the Rangefinder Forum that their combined wheat list could be pretty impressive. What are the photo sites and video sources that you have found to be useful and informative?

The only site displaying photos that I still go to every day is
https://loeildelaphotographie.com/en/category/photo-daily-news/

Sometimes the photography is too over the top for me but most of the time it's a mix of interesting historical, popular and contemporary photography. I don't read French above first grade level but the photos speak for themselves.

I also enjoy Houston Center of Photography's SPOT magazine and the Humble Arts Foundation site. Not always but frequently some interesting photos. Occasionally The Brooklyn Rail has a photographer interview or profile. But often too much politics for me--I'm allergic to politicians...all politicians.

There's always Magnum and the Leica Blog, of course.

I also go to a few blogs, the best being The Online Photographer IMO.

Great site Dogman, thanks for the info.

I only visit RFF and Photrio on a daily basis. Great to have other recommendations. Thanks.

I come to RFF to see what Erik van Straten, Pan Giannakis and Larry Cloetta are up to.

Nick Exposed on YouTube

The Online Photographer

Ming Thein, who has recently moved on from blogging

B&H Photo has some really good lectures on YouTube

Brendan Toews on Instagram and here on RFF

Lensculture, Magnum, Mack Book's e-mails and website, Aperture, a few photographers on Instagram, a few on Facebook, the Ben Smith Podcast, etc. BUT I still prefer my photo book library. I currently love Gerry Johansson's small Rolleiflex prints with perfect compositions. The link by Dogman seems solid too... thanks.

Yes, Big thanks for that one Dogman. I follow Peter Turnley. Check out the Amon Carter Museum. Follow a few folks on Instagram. Swing by here. 2 big finds for today here were Dogman's link & Aizan's mention of Graciela Iturbe....always on the lookout for something good.

RFF - I like it but I wish more members would post pictures;
Flickr - the wheat/chaff ratio improves when you participate, instead of just dumping your pictures there;
35mcc - sometimes an interesting photographer pops up;
Photrio - I only look at photo based forums. Most are dormant. One of the most active forums is 'street' - 'street photography' but it has very few active participants;
YouTube - still a good place to find interesting clips on photographers and photography;
The Online Photographer - now and then.

PS. I don't use Facebook and Instagram and that limits my exposure to, both the wheat, and the chaff. Cheers, OtL

Ah, here I go again sounding like a fool in love with himself.

I actually look at my own archives quite a bit. I go back and look at my old stuff and compare it with my new stuff. I’m always asking myself if I’m getting better or was I better in the old days. Has technology had any effect, have I forgotten more than I’ve learned. Was I more quizzical and imaginative in the old days compared to now. Am I trying too hard to impress other people instead of being true to myself. Sometimes I’ll look at an old image I made and I can’t believe I was that good before, actually I often think I was better then than now.

Skipping around the internet looking at other people's photographs is all well and good (and useful) but it’s my own images that I’m most interested in. Probably sounds weird but it’s true.

All the best,
Mike

Well, I like facebook. There are many pages dedicated to the arts. Especially the visual arts. There is also plenty of chaff as well but why not look at them? Two areas I try my utmost to avoid commenting on with facebook are politics and religion. I still can observe tho but I don’t let it bother me.

I find it’s not easy to post photographs here.

Shouldn’t be that way but it is.

Especially photographs on my iPad or iPhone.

Too bad.

Easy peasy on facebook.

Casualphotophile.com is a nice site. With podcasts I enjoy the Classic Lens Podcast. The documentary about Vivian Maier (on Amazon Prime video right now, I think) was nice.

With the advent of social media, blogs are not as popular as they used to be. However, I still follow a few of them. They aren't necessarily the "big name" Magnum or Instagram influencer types, but I like that they have more of an everyman feel to them.
