When do you usually photograph?

There was a short time when I wasn't working or studying I had gone out to the city and photographed every day straight for 2 weeks. Probably the best experience I've had in terms of exploring and photographic opportunities - got some very nice photos and started getting consistent.

But lately I've had some troubles with much less time, not feeling content with results and hence less enjoyment.

Sunday mornings.

When I travel. My work as a corporate pilot often allows a number of free days at some nice location. This weekend I am in Palm Springs, Ca. with my faithful M3 and a plentiful supply of Delta 100 film. Spent yesterday and today in the nearby mountains. I like early mornings and late afternoons for pictures but sometimes have to settle for whatever we can get.

It depends on my mindset. I've always loved photography...but I haven't always been as vigilant. However, when I am I carry a camera with me all the time and shoot whenever I see something that grabs my attention. I also shoot quite a bit of family photos at home and during our jaunts around town.

I have been taking photos of people and of places that interested me a lot. During undergraduate college years, I took photos of students in my classes, even those who I did not like. Then, I started taking photos of the beautiful surroundings in Blacksburg (Virginia), and I got into landscape photography duirng my graduate education years. Another jump for me was after moving South and being close enough to drive back and forth to New Orleans. There, I started emphasizing street photography. I had fun with it. Then, I got married, and we had children. I then realized that I really enjoyed photographing my family first. I smile whenever I look at their photos. While family photos may bore other people. to me, my family comes first. I love taking photos os the ocean and the beaches. I never get tired from this part. I see new beauty each time I am at the beaches.
I never enjoyed taking photos of plants or animals.
