When is a Sekonic Light Meter a Camera?

Reminds me of when I was going to jury duty, security would not let me into the court house because he said my electronic cigarette could be used as a weapon. Dont remember exactly, but I said something along the lines of, I can probably do more damage with this ballpoint pen than with that rounded off edge on the cigarette..
I didnt make jury duty that day, was escorted out..

Did they make people remove bootlaces? You could strangle someone with them, you know. Sometimes these things just make you shake your head. Almost anything can be a weapon, given circumstances and desire. Maybe everyone in court should have to be stark naked?

Some meters, especially spot-meters with a viewing system, do look to non-photographers like a p&s camera. I can see where the confusion comes from but if they are "security" they ought to be trained to know these things.

My spot meter is a Sekonic L-438 - which looks just like an old 110 camera, complete with viewfinder to look through!

It lives in my studio, but I imagine if I took it out and about I'd always have to be explaining, "No, it's not camera - I look through it to measure light!"
