Where is the highest concentration of RFF members in the world?

There are a few of us in central Connecticut, but as far as I know there hasn't been a get-together in quite some time. There's actually one guy who lives down the street -- I mean the same block! -- but we haven't connected, which is pretty pathetic. Maybe we really are loners at heart?

OK, if that's what you had in mind... lets forget geography, nationalism, state-ism/province-ism/county-ism/shireism, or city-ism. The highest concentration of RFF members in the world are sitting right in front of their computers banging out messages on their keyboards. 😀

I've met 3 from my area (Dallas-Ft.Worth).

Colyn and shadowfox (aka Will). Both super nice.

I met a 3rd one at a camera show, but can't recall his name.

Colyn has a penchant for finding $10 Barnack Leicas at Garage Sales.

Will provided "Little Oly" for the traveling camera project. Apparently Little Oly never returned, but did spawn "Little Oly 2", who completed the journey.

Will also loaned me his Voigtlander LTM-to-M adapter when I got my M6, until I could find one of my own.

I suppose Texans are no more sociable than our Viennese buddies.

Typing posts via keyboard though, is so much less rich than a face to face. I think that most of the "issues" we sometimes have on RFF could be totally avoided by face to face communication.

I'd agree with that, especially since you said 'most' not 'all'. Just like in the workplace... nothing beats a face-2-face meeting to determine if people can get along and work together well or not!

I know of a few Leica users here in the Miami, FL area. I made an attempt to get a group together a few years ago. We met one time!]- .......perhaps they were put off by the monkey, Al! 😀

I'm sure there are quite a few RFF members in the "Los Angeles area" since you can make the argument that the Los Angeles area extends to 4 or 5 counties. However, because of the great distances (and incredibly nasty traffic conditions), there are no active RFF meet ups (at least not to my knowledge).

I'm sure there are also quite a few RF shooters not on RFF, including those in the movie industry.

Lately she's given up on the Leica CL for the time being and gone "large" format, shlepping around an ancient Minolta Autocord TLR on a Leitz table-top tripod. The outfit is bigger than she is!

If we do get a South Florida group together Monkette wants me to asure everyone that bringing your favorite toy animal along is cool with her.

Hey, I've been through Randburg, twenty years or so ago. Love to come back and spend a lot of time in SA, if the airfare from the U.S. wasn't $2000 or so. I wasn't into photography then, and now I keep remembering all the great opportunities I had.

Raquette Lake has 96 or 92 year round residents, depending on who you ask, so per capita RL might be doing pretty well: 1 per 92.
Way ahead of NYC or Toronto, I think.

"Win" against that kind of competition? Not likely!
Actually I'd be delighted if there were more of us RF folks around here.
I'll be back in Cortland in November and will try again to get together with the folks around there.

Going by the posters I've seen here on RFF I reckon there's about a dozen of us here in Adelaide S. Oz. We should probably have a get together sometime. I guess someone just has to make the effort to organise it.

For one thing toy monkeys are chick magnets! They make great props. She rides around in the truck with me, sits on my shoulder at the market and at city council meetings. The postal clerks and bank tellers all know her by name

When somebody gets up the nerve to ask me why a guy my age goes around town with a toy monkey riding on his shoulder I tell them the truth. She's too young to get a driver's license and I'm her driver.
