So after all my pondering and scraping together of $$ ive got it settled. Im looking for an M6 in black, original or TTL somewhere in the neighborhood of 900-1200 usd. user condition. I need no fondler toy.

Where do you guys look for gear? these are a few of my recent haunts, but let me know if Im missing anything.

- Ebay, of course, but I really hesitate to buy anything expensive there.($$25 canonet is worth the risk, 1000 leica, not so much)
- KEH.com good selection, return period, ive had experience in the past with them
- Adorama.com, not too many to choose from
- Classifieds here, would probably be my preferred method. Id like to support this community over a store or retail site.

Anything else?? And does anyone know of a walk-in type store in Chicago?? Central Camera ive heard of, but never been. Any others?

Thanks again for your support and advice.

eBay for me

eBay for me

I get almost all of my used camera gear on eBay. Either from the auctions, the seller's eBay store, or the sellers own Web site. I always CLA used cameras before giving them serious use, no matter how functional the seller claims it is. That way, I know. I use Essex Camera Repair in NJ for all of my camera repair work. They have a good reputation and they are close to my house (but probably not yours!). So, you should probably factor in an additional $180-$250 to the price of the camera if you CLA it, too.

Regards,
Ira

I saw the PM sent but not the sold. I sold my chrome M6 through the forum about a month ago (sorry but keeping the black one 😉 ) and if memory serves me correctl, there have been several M6 or TTLs over the last couple of months. I would say every month or so at the moment but on the other hand it may be like waiting for the number 9 bus. You wait for ages and then 4 turn up at once.

How often does stuff like that come up for sale??

Thanks though.

I just bought a real nice M6 classic off of ebay for $900. I had bid on one, had a great email conversation with the owner, and then ended up losing it. About a day later another one popped from a seller with great feedback. Purchased it and everything has been dandy!
