Same for 2GB Transcend 150x SD cards which work perfectly as well.

I use the Sandisk 1GB ultra II card with no problem. Recently I have begin using the Sandisk 1GB ultra II *PLUS* card which has a built in USB connection. This has been very handy since you don't need to carry around or use a card reader. Just stick the card in any USB port and you are good to go. Its fast too.
I want to try their 2GB *PLUS* model but have been hesitant because of Epson's claim of lack of support. I'm glad to hear the 2GB ultra II works as the *PLUS* feature is really nice. It cost a little more but I download files alot more often because if it.

yeah, I like the idea of the folding card, but I'd rather go with the old style - they just seem more mechanically stable to me and less prone to problems as they age....

I was worried about the durability of the folding card too. It does seem rather flimsy but I thought a would buy one, in anticipation of a long Aegean vacation, to torture test it in as many adverse conditions as possible before committing to a 2GB model.
So far, it is doing fine. I have have had it in and out of the camera and computer hundreds of times with no adverse effects. I find myself downloading much more often because it is so easy. This is very handy when I am testing lens or doing any other kind of technical evaluations. Its not uncommon to download the card when it only has a dozen or less picture files on it.
Since the 1GB card holds 100 raw files, I only need to use a 2nd card (a regular non-folder) when I am out in the field really taking pictures. If I purchase a 2nd "PLUS" card of the 2GB variety, I will have a total of 3GB of folder type and 1GB of conventional Ultra II for backup. I'm also bringing my Epson P-4000 for an additional 80GB of memory for my trip (and viewing pleasure). That ought to hold me!!
I've had absolutely no trouble with any of my Sandisk Ultra II cards of either variety. I just hope the 2GB capacity one will be as trouble free. I am about to make the plunge and find out.

New R-D1s on the way from Japan! Have tracking numbers and everything. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. I owe this forum a debt (and Sean Reid) for piqueing my interest and 'turning me on' to the rangefinder world.
