The sony US site seems to have them for sale, but unfortunately sony canada doesn't... I've got a pre-order in at Henry's (no deposit) but I'm wondering if a pre-order from the Sony store might get me one sooner? Anyone know a Canadian retailer that actually has any in stock?

So while the local Sony Store told me they could definitely get me one by Feb 10th back in January, it looks like that was just a ploy to get me to put some cash down. I just got off the phone with Sony Canada sales support and they said they wouldn't be shipping pre-orders to Canada till mid March at the earliest, more likely the end of March, beginning of April.

Wow, this has been a disaster for Sony. I'm sure many potential customers went a different route. By the time this camera is available, they may have missed the boat on many early buyers. It isn't entirely Sony's fault though...

Besides the Fuji Xpro and the new Olympus Digital OM, Sony Alpha Rumours is reporting there's even a new NEX body that's going to be announced in April. That would be a serious slap in the face if a couple weeks after getting your NEX 7 pre-order after waiting for months, a new better body is announced.

That would be like Canon releasing the 5D MKII, waiting till the initial rush of sales is over then announcing a MKIII. I get it, the floods have screwed things up... I've been willing to wait, just give me an idea of how LONG I have to wait... don't just keep saying "maybe next week".

Just wondering if any of the Canadians here have received their pre-order from a Canadian store yet? I'm getting conflicting info... Sony Canada's customer service line says no pre-orders have shipped, but the local Sony Store is insisting that they've had a few cameras come in and they can get them.

Just been notified by my local Sony store that my Nex 7 body is ready for pickup, which is really good as I only placed my order on Feb 14th. :0) Now I just need a lens, I'm thinking of going with the Zeiss 24 f1.8 for now and then placing an order for the Voigtlander leica M adapter a little later.

OK, that REALLY pisses me off... in January, about a week after placing my order at Henrys, I went to the Sony store to see if they could get me one faster, they assured me that pre-orders would be giving out in order they're received, not matter where they're ordered from. Just to be sure, I phoned Sony Canada and asked them the same thing. Again, I was assured that cancelling my order at Henry's and ordering from Sony would not get me one faster... pre-orders are first order, first served, regardless of vendor.

FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK

If I had the extra cash I'd be switching over to the Fuji on principle at this point.

I have decided that I will likely get the NEX 7, but just to be sure all the bugs are out of it I'm going to wait until perhaps August or I hear more reports back from more people. Sometimes there are initial problems with these things that aren't apparent right away.

As well, when more cameras are in the stores the price will come down a bit.

I also want the camera in my hands so I can see exactly what the thing feels like.
