Where to get Rodinal now?

Pay attention Wayne. Sorry.

OK, Freestyle is out of R09 as well.

Get the real Rodinal from Freestyle. It usually takes 2-3 days to get me in NE Texas. Get some Arista Premium 100 & 400 film from Freestyle. The film loves Rodinal.

Sometime back, 6 months maybe?, there was mention of some change in sourcing Rodinal from A&O who bought the name and formula from Agfa. Maybe this is the transition period while they sort things out.

You can buy the chenmicals and mix it yourself. GOOGLE parodinal.

RODINAL, Made in Germany, one can easily order completely in the USA at FREESTYLE L.A. or DIGITALTRUTH. No problem! FREESTYLE regularly imports directly from Germany. In the UK, you can directly order from SILVERPRINT, London. A list of worldwide distribution partners would be on the webpage www.mahn.net.
In Canada delivers BLAZES original RODINAL for legal grounds under its own name. Solo for market reasons is at the top of the label R09 One Shot, at the bottom of the label reads: Produced by Rodinal as Connect, Vaihingen/Germany for Compard KG. Geesthacht/Germany. CONNECT is the traditional AGFA manufacturing plant, and uses the original AGFA recipes.
R 09 One Shot from COMPARD is therefore the original that is known and appreciated for many decades. Additionally, in Germany even RODINAL bottles offered in trade.

From Photo.net and due to the source I think it's reliable information.

best regards,

Robert

If necessary I can supply you of Rodinal however due to all regulations to the USA it's a package for seapost and it takes over 6-8 weeks.

Vanbar imaging always seems to have it in stock here in Oz for around $18.00 AUD for 500ml bottles ... that's where my last one came from.

To be honest I'm not as big a fan as I was ... I find with 400 film it can make the grain a little sharp for me! I'm a committed Xtol junkie!

I was under the impression that the A&O version Rodinal was being discontinued by Freestyle and replaced with R09.

Is the US going to have two or more versions of Rodinal available?

I was in Vanbar a couple weeks ago looking for Rodinal, no luck. They said they weren't sure when they would have more, or if they would be able to get more.

blazinal mentioned above is exactly same a rodinal. the name is different due to some naming issue but everything else is the same.

The lesson is when you see Rodinal, buy 2 or 3 bottles. Then when you are getting down to the bottom of the next to last bottle, look for some more. I mean, it does keep, you know.

It is just like buying film. You never run out. You just restock when it starts getting low.

So far Fotohuis doesn't have any interruption in the Rodinal supply. The new 125ml label Rodinal changed already some time ago: R09 one shot, made in Germany.

Robert,

what is the current production status of these developers? Any need to stock up at all? How do you see the future, production-wise on these developers?

Connect bought the chemical plant from A&O in Vaihingen-Enz. Only a small part of the plant is used for photochemicals.
One of the problems was the Rodinal name and licence for it. The product is now sold under R09 one shot "made in Germany" now. As far I have understood Compard (a sister company of Maco in Hamburg ) is filling up the bottles.
Unless Connect is stopping the photo chemical plant in Vaihingen-Enz there is no need for panic at all. New bottles and etiquettes must be supplied and an oversea shipment cost a bit more time so that distributors can run low in stock.
I do not think there is any reason to stock up.

Best regards,

Robert
