Hi there,

I cross posted this on Darkroom as well, apologies for the cross posting :)

My problem is : to find a good lab that does film processing in London, in the way that the negatives dont come with fingerprints, scratches and so on.

I scan my negatives after processing and I've tried to use a range of labs and the negatives come scratched or fingerprinted on way or another, or both.

The best so far was COLOR but they charge prohibitve rates :) Yes, first class processing and untouched negatives, but I was thinking , any londoners with tips ?

Or a shop with mail... I'm trying now ( waiting for delivery ) Fuji Processing labs.. their price is not that bad ( around 3 pounds per roll , no prints ) , so if you know something in that region, would appreciate.

Cheers,

Goncalo

My local independent lab always returns nice clean negatives. This is Forest Photographic in E17. Their prices aren't as cheap as the supermarkets though.

Not in London but a good mail service - Peak Imaging.
I've used Peak for years - never had any issues with marks/scratches etc and good quality work and fast turnaround...not the cheapest tho - but having had bad experiences with others, cost isn't my over-riding concern.

I would second Peak Imaging.

I do my own B&W, but when I need colour I send my stuff to them and they are always quick and good quality. I have used them for 35mm, 120 and 4x5. Never had any problems. Plus it doesn't cost you anything to send the films (it's freepost).

The UK process paid Fuji chrome is convenient and has about 5 days turn round from pillar box to front door. They do take care and I only occassionally have any detectable surface artifice, which may be camera. They have taped a damaged film on non emulsion side for salvaged without any complains other then to point out that the sprockets had torn and damaged the film.

B&W I can do as well myself.

I've used Snappy Snaps in Wimbledon for a couple of years - I think they now send the B+W stuff to Putney. I havent had any problems with them, the main thing was getting over the silly name and the bright yellow sign outside the shop. Prices slightly high for a minilab but the quality has always been good.
