Hey,

As per the title, does anyone have a recommended place to send a canon iif for a CLA? Im in the UK, so preferably somwhere here.

I took it to Bob Rigby in macclesfield (as its local). They've had the camera for over a month, and despite numerous phone calls they have still yet to even provide me with an estimate repair cost!

Real camera company in manchester said they should be able to do it for rougly £50-£70, but I dont know if they do decent repair jobs.

The camera needs to be lubricated, and the slow shutter speeds fixed (all slow speeds act as bulb). The rangefinder needs cleaning too, and a couple of screws are missing (such as the one in the slow speed dial).

So yeah, any recommended places to send it would be much appreciated! Preferably somwhere with a fast turnaround, I've been itching to use the camera for some time now!

Cheers

I phoned back up today, and they said the cost of repair would be £120! Seeing as the camera was only £70, spending that much on it isnt economically viable for me.

Ill pick the camera back up on thursday, and hopefully will find somewhere cheaper!

Bump, still need to find somewhere to send this :<

On a plus side I managed to clean the rangefinder out myself. It was full of fungus, so I used some athletes foot creme which cleared it right up. The rangefinder patch is incredibly bright, I can still focus it in nearly pitch black 🙂

I had my IV IS repaired by Oleg Kkhalyavin. He's in Russia.
Google him and you'll find his prices on his website.
Best regards
