I've been waiting patiently for the past month or so, and everytime an Epson R-d1 pops up, it's gone before I can do anything! I guess I'm just too slow... Ebay has none, craigslist is useless, I need help!
Anyways, anyone selling an R-D1 or know where I can get one in Southern Cali?
Thanks

I did get some pretty fast moving items from here because while I PM the seller everybody else is sleeping or in the bar my time zone is GMT+8. Most sellers here keep their word on "1st I'll take it gets it".

As a new user who has only registered today, most seller might think twice about selling to you anyway. Get involved in the commmunity and I'm sure one will come by.

Try Matsuiya Ebay Store. They have some RD1s the last time I look. There is one as well at KEH.

Two R-D1xG´s for sale on ebay, both new, both from the same Japanese shop. Both in excess of 3G´s! A couple of weeks ago 5 or 6 where for sale here in the classifieds, all at the same time. Ranging from 1200-1800 bucks. Some say that they´ve been able to pick them up for 800 Euros on the ebay not many weeks ago. Less than that is probably pushing it.

Sure,
I got mine just a few weeks ago from the classifieds. I was fast, and lucky, because the seller was spanish too, just from a city next to mine so ithe transaction was fast and trustufull. Just pay attention to classifieds and one will come up at any time.
As I'm travelling, I haven't used yet, not till I arrive at home where my little baby is waiting for me. I expect my first shoots in Christmas. After that I will be a truly RFF member.
So far, I'm still a DSLR guy
Good luck

Matsuiya has stock of good R-D1 but not always put up on eBay. If you email them they would put one or two up for you. Buy-It-Now prices ~$1700.

I just PM'd a guy who was selling it on the classifieds, he's from SoCal so I can reach him pretty easily.
I just want to try out rangefinders, I hope I don't hate them!

I'm in the same boat, been looking for a couple of weeks now. I actually bought one from KEH a few weeks ago and it was fine for about 10 days, but then the LCD got wonky so I returned it (luckily I could). Of course, the day I bought it from KEH, one came up for sale on RFF, and then a few more came up. But since my KEH one seemed fine I had no need to buy one. Now when I want one there are none to be had!
For me the R-D1 was addicting. The process of operating the lever and RF focusing was very calming, it made me shoot much more thoughtfully than with a dslr. The smaller (slimmer) size compared to a dslr was also nice, especially the size of the lenses. I'm looking forward to getting another one, hopefully we won't be bidding against each other, lol.
Just a thought, you may want to try a cheap film rangefinder first if you're unsure, I could see it not being for everyone. I tried a Canonet QL17 (can be had cheap) before buying the R-D1. Now that I think about it, though, if you buy an R-D1, you'll almost certainly be able to turn around and sell it for no loss if you don't like it. Good luck.
