I'm considering buying a 28mm lens for use with my M6.

What lenses do members recommend? I'd be interested in your views and experiences. Any pictures using your lens would be appreciated.

What sort of shooting do you do? Do you need a really fast 28mm for low level available light or will a slower lens do?

Voigtlander offers a couple of quite good lenses at this focal length.

I use a 28mm Summicron ASPH when size and bulk are not an issue, and/or when a slow lens won't do. When I want a very compact lens, I use the Voigtlander 28/3.5 in screw mount--with an adapter, of course. No complaints with the performance of either! The CV is cheaper, though!

Well, if you can live with the speed, the Canon 28/3.5 is an exquisite tiny jewel of lens that gives delightful images. The one I owned was insanely great and I do regret selling it. If nothing else, I should hav bought a body just for it... :bang:

I had the Ultron 28/1.9 and sold it for the CV 28/3.5. I liked the speed and sharpness of the 28/1.9, but the viewfinder intrusion sucked for street shooting. The 28/3.5 is tiny and sharp. Love it!

No one ever mentions it but I will just because I have it. The Zeiss 28 f2.8 is a fine lens, very compact and lots of character. Here is a thread I did on it a while ago.

It is not the cheapest, or best bang for buck or any of that, the voigtlanders are the ones to have if you want something cheaper, but the Zeiss is in my opinion the best if you shoot slides and color photos. Black and white is ok too of course but these modern Zeiss lenses really excel at color.

biogon is a good all rounder. Very happy with mine. sure, the CVs are cheaper and some of the Leicas faster but it is a very good 28 2.8 all rounder. Get the hood if shooting in nasty lighting. If you shoot under more normal conditions, dont bother.
